Body is a Hot Bodies Stealth Fighter body, one of the best looking of all IMO, the best design too... (Protech I excluded )

I'm loving it too.. Although I recently discovered a (used sadly) Turbo Mirage.. hubba hubba

That wing is my holy grail. I've only ever seen one before Asa put this one up for sale. People think Tecnacraft wheels are rare, this thing is much harder to find. I've wanted one since I saw the ads in RCCA back in the day, and when I got back into "vintage" buggies 6 or 7 years ago I remembered them and started hunting for one. Finally, I've got it.

I was pretty happy to find the wheels and turnbuckles as you can imagine, but I never thought I'd find a NIB Aero Foil.

If you're looking for a nerve-racking experience, try drilling two precise holes through the bottom of an incredibly rare piece of lexan while making sure you don't go through and scratch the top side. I was sweating for that.

i always use a body reamer for holes, ive never messed up anything when using it and its extremely sharp and mistakes can be easily corrected if they are off to one side too much etc

Oh yeah, I've used those in the past. It wouldn't have worked for this wing though, it's too long. It would have poked another hole right through the top. I had about 1/4" of space between the bottom and the top. Basically the same distance as the hight of an AE wing button.

ah i gotcha... this thing is good for starting cuts into lexan also..

when i cut a protech 1's windows out.. i usually make 4 holes in the windshield for example, then slice with a exacto and crack the rest of the lexan along the slit, and the windows come out perfect usually. cool tool to have.

Don't konw what kind you guys all use but i've had just about every kind and my favorite is STILL the long Dynamite one... its far sharper then a lot of them and you can pretty much rest it on lexan and turn it and it'll start cutting.

oh, that's nice. I would need some sort of protective sleeve for it. Can't tell you how many times I've dropped a screw driver or something on my foot.

Don't know how many times I've dropped the xacto knife and nearly hit my foot. Luckily I've still got quick reflexes, I don't know how many times I've had to pull the xacto out of the wood floor.

wow! that wing rocks, i always remember seeing them in poor magazine photos and never saw one up close. i imagine it took alot to get a flat piece of lexan to bend like that. now i can see why they dont make them anymore. i really wish somebody would make sprint car wings like that, now that would be sweet.

Scott, is the main part of the wing a one piece? I was looking at it and thought it shouldn't be that difficult to repo/copy/inspire from... any thoughts?

Yep, the main part of the wing is one piece. It wraps around to form the aero-foil, and then it is somehow fused to itself on the small part. The whole aero-foil section has a slight ribbed texture running horizontal on it's surface. I even question if it's regular lexan, it has a coroplast like feeling to it. Maybe a different kind of lexan than we are used to seeing.

Repro? Nothing makes my blood boil hotter.

Inspired by, well that's another story. As long as it's different from the original. Reproduction parts killed the vintage Schwinn hobby, I certainly don't want to see it kill this one.

I perfectly know what you mean about repro and I do agree with you... However, I don't think I'll be able to source one in the near future, so I was just asking myself if it would be possible to make my own and nothing more, I don't plan to make a massive stash and then list them here or wherever else... any detail on the construction would be appreciated...

the center piece looks like something that was extruded and cut to length, is it possible to do that with polycaronate?
That would explain the horizontal ribbed texture too.
