That is incredibly cool. How did you bend the the frame rails like that? I've been trying to figure out how to bend carbon fiber.

Do not try and bend the carbon fibre. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth, that it is not the carbon fibre that bends, it is only yourself.

carbon fiber doesn't bend...has to be made like that  .

Very nice piece of kyosho. Look forward to seeing more updates on it.

Wow. Awesome! It took me about three months to restore my childhood Scorpion. I can't imagine how much time you have in that sweet machine.

The best way to bend carbon fibre is doing it before adding the epoxi resin that makes the laminate complete

Seriously, I tried once to apply heat from a heat gun to a bit of Glass Fibre circuit board with the ambition to breakform it into a chassitub for a Tamiya Hot Shot. No cigarr... I was 14 years old and had only managed to achieve a burnt bit of ex-plastic and a magnificent cloud of bad fumes in my friends garage. His dad then informed me about the differece between thermo plastics and Epoxis. A cured laminate will only burn but never bend with heat. No tub for me but a lesson learnt. I did a lot of those learnings in the 80'ies.

But yeah, if you want to make a bent bit of Carbon Fibre; you've got to laminate it into that shape in a mould (if ever so simple), there is no other way.

Thermo plastics and thermo harders you mean, but otherwise you're fully right.

There're some composites available now that combine carbon fibers with a thermo plastic resin.
These can be heated in an oven and shaped (to some extent) while still hot. Nice, but how do you handle material so hot at home?

Which ultima gears are you using? Ultima RB, RB5?

I've done a full trailing arm suspension car using scorpion suspension parts and found the biggest limiter to be the very short length of the arms.
I think if they'd used longer arms and kept the angle changes smaller for the same up-down travel of the wheels, it could have worked a lot better.

Retro - did you do the rail lamination yourself? I've been considering a little experimentation with FG and/or CF with epoxy resin. Just not sure what to do to keep the mold from fixing to the work? paste wax?

Please make a 5 spoke version of those wheels for the standard Scorpion and sell them.
