Just wanted to show off my efforts in Google Sketchup. I've been putting this Thorpy thing together the last few days. I thought several times it was close to be finished but I always come up with new things that must be added so it's still a work in progress. nothing is to scale but the general appearance is right, I think.
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas Factory Works website
Ok, so I'm about to embark on my Blackfoot build with a load of hop-ups and chromed parts. One question as regards the transmission which I was hoping to canvas some thoughts on. I have both the Thorp telescoping drive transmission and the Thorp dog...

Sorry to ask again, but can anyone provide a link to the traxxas sliders that are referenced above?
The ones that will work with the blackfoot are from the 4tec.
anybody have any old thorp parts lists or catalogs they could scan? I'm specifically looking for any losi listings, but would be interested to see what else they made.
Thanks!

I have a partial catalog but shows very little losi. Mostly Tamiya, kyosho showing the diffs broke down by part#'s. If you need any scans of the ball diffs just let me know.
I bought this for my Astute and I guess/hope it's 48DP would that be correct :?: Dirt Burners.JPG

Not sure about the astute version, but on the ultima/optima version the inner gear and counter gear were distinct for the underdrive/overdrive sets. You couldnt mix/match at will, but one of them worked with stock (as the one above probably does.
What's the durability like on them? I picked up a couple basket case goldpans and to my supprise both transmissions have 48p gear sets in them.. I was thinking of using one set in my 6-gear runner 2s lipo with a 13t brushed motor. Think it would...

I have seen some of the outdrives eventually get rounded out where the bone rubs. I have also seen that on some rear axles, so I assume it's not strictly related to the hardening on the thorp stuff. Otherwise, the gears are nice and smooth.
Are they still in business? I cant find their website. They had some pretty cool stuff. I love their gears. I would like to see if they are making any new stuff

You can find the occasional Thorp part for old Traxxas vehicles, but I haven't seen a ball diff in years. Usually the idlear delrin gears and the top shaft delrin gears are what show up on ebay.
It's a shame too as I have one of their ball diffs...
