Another Craigslist find. I have wanted one of these for a long time now. It really needs a good cleaning and a few minor parts (Body posts). I plan on leaving the body as is. I think it looks pretty cool with the dents and all. It also came with another chassis with the front drivetrain attached minus one dog bone and a bag full of spare parts.
Looks a lot like the one I just got myself, apart from mine being a blue chassis..... need to find replacement front and rear shock towers on mine, both came broken

Nice! That looks really cool with the blue parts Alex. Funny, mine had a broken rear tower too. I picked up parts tree B, TAM50478 to replace the rear tower from the bay for 12 bucks. I don't remember seeing any blue one though when I did my search.

Yup, The TA-02 chassis was used a bunch of different body combos, onraod. The trucks use the TA-02"T". You can still get the F150 and the New Desert Fielder which has the blue parts and a new bumper with push bar with racing light buckets.

I was just looking at those and man are they expensive! I will try my luck with the stock ones for now...Thanks for point those out though. It is good to have options.
I started tearing everything apart today and degreased everything. It was a tedious task but needed to be done.
Found out the motor mount was broken as well. Good thing a new one is on the B tree I ordered. Also the chassis was seriously warped from heat from the battery at some point. The parts chassis will be swapped out for the bad one.

My exact thoughts.... when a vehicle costs $50 or less, who wants to spend more than that on FRP towers!
The two options that I see are to either buy myself replacement blue A and B parts (just under $20 plus post), or to fork out for Yeah Racing aluminium towers... which are just over $20 plus post. Biggest problem with the YR aluminium parts is that, seeing as you're already buying parts, why not also get the alloy motor mount.... and the alloy prop shaft..... and it quickly adds up, especially if you're a cheap bastid like me!

I hear you. I am trying to keep this on the cheap as well. I picked this up for $75 on CL, but I also got a TL-01 and two JRL T-birds, so this one cost me 25... I do want to get the aluminum prop shaft but that will be it for hop-ups, for now. GPM has one for 13 bucks.

Being Tamiya, you might be able to find them in old hobby shops (don't pay attention to the inane prices of some Ebay sellers).
There's also aftermarket options. IIRC, GPM made carbon shock towers up to a few years ago, might be easiest to find.
Oh, alloy motor mount is a MUST HAVE for this chassis. The plastic one will melt or break.
Does anyone have pictures of this particular body? Was looking at the rc10t catalog and noticed that this body was offered from associated. Tried looking around the forum for pics but came up empty.

Here are the pic's...noticable differences include big flat front grill w/ oval ford logo and square headlights. Hood cowl/scoop extends all the way to the front of the hood. The rear bed is wider, tailgate has ford logo and what looks to be vents...
I recently bought a lot of used vintage Tamiya vehicles including two with hard plastic bodies. The first one is a Ranger XLT body that is in great shape except for a cracked A pillar and a broken and missing wing vent pillar. The A pillar...

Oh Nice! I just watched a video on that stuff. The results look amazing. I'll be sure to practice on some less valuable plastic before I attempt it for real. Thanks again for all your hep.
When I saw the Jconcepts Ranger Hit the Market I ran out and grabbed one. It sat in my garage for a bit until I got the nerve to try and paint the darn thing
Now I'm terrible at painting and I don't have access to an airbrush, so this Rattle...

NICE! :D
Very cool.
I hope they bring more retro trucks out!
How about a Dodge Power Wagon or Li'l Red Express? We've seen enough Chebbies and Furds. I haven't even seen a late-model Dakota.
Anyone notice the amount of Rangers there are on eBay lately? I count 3 this morning and only on the first few pages of a vintage rc search ! I personally can only hope, because this is one of the cars I really want to be re released! Tamiya has...

the thing that sucks about the blackfoot 3 body is that it's riddled with body mount holes.
I picked up a SRB Ranger awhile back, and decided to pull it out and see what it would take to refresh. I just started into a puller project, but it is starting to sink in that that is a LONG TERM project, so still needs normal builds going on.

I'm mostly a Mopar guy but I own a few GM products that I'm happy with...I've never owned a Ford. I was never really fond of the Mustangs of any generation, they were just too commonplace. I liked the early 70's-ish Torino Cobras, though...
