New to me CE/ build thread

Post by CraigB »

I lucked out and got this in a trade. Plans are to make it a decent runner first. I'm not sure if I will turn it into the car I raced in the late 80's early 90's or if I will just do some upgrades if the car breaks. First thing is to get a new body and figure out what I need to do to convert it to modern wheels and tires. I'm not sure about the wheels that are on it, they look like Dhawk but the set I saw seemed way too expensive for this car. On to the pics.

I imagine the bottom of the car was saved due to the crazy amount of preload

Rear arm mounts are on backwards, like usual. Doesn't anyone pay attention to the directions? Drives me nuts!

(Not directed at you, OP. I know this car is new to you, just venting.)

Alright I think I am going to build it WOIN. I've cleaned up the chassis, installed the rear mounts correctly and sorted through what I think it will need. I have read a million threads and think I have a good idea of what I am doing. I changed to worlds steering, I need to order bearings though. I got B4 front wheels, I thought my stock rear would work. They don't p.o. has 3/16 stub axles in there (no spacers at all  ). I installed the 10GT steering blocks and axles. So I need rear wheels and tires all around, I think I need carbon works shock towers. 1.18 rear shocks with 1.02 fronts, B4 top shaft and slipper. I don't know if the klein arms are a lot wider than what I have or if I need a 10T front to use them. I also painted a body, it's been a long time since I have done that.
