i take it back and instead will say I discovered my own error when I built the re-re scorpion. The two suspension shaft holders have a tapered end. The correct way to install them is: install the taller one with taper side up and the shorter one taper side down. Its clearly shown in the manual but I overlooked it.
I'm did however discover that I'm missing one 1.5 mm aluminium spacer that goes under the rear radio post (SC247A) and one flange aluminium spacer for top deck SC247D.
Couple of other notes.. Open the diff and put some fluid in it.. They only put a dab of anti wear grease on it.
Only other concern I have is that the slipper gear and counter gear appear to be tight in mesh.. Not sure how I would go about adjusting that..
This could be a great vintageracing machine with that new brushless ready gearbox, and of course that ole crappy handling so i can still blame the car..

If you buy the HG shocks, you won't be able to blame it on crappy handling anymore.. Those dampers make a world of difference.
G'day all, I'm a new member and wanted to throw a few pics up of my new build, a Tomahawk rere. It's still under construction and I'm waiting on paint for the body. I picked up some upgrades and started to build it original, but have started to include the upgrades in the build after I wasn't that excited about the standard shocks. I'd be interested on people's thoughts regarding differential options and also what seems to be the best shock oil weight for the HG shocks I've added? I'm impressed with what I've seen on this thread.
Share some of my modifications done to Optima and scorpion....

I suppose it's easy enough to check. If after a good run your motor is warm and the motor guard isn't, neither the guard or the fan is doing a whole lot of cooling. :)
I've just finished rebuilding my Tomahawk over the last year and a half. Major features are machined chassis rails and front axle clamps, Kyosho mini Inferno shocks front and rear, CRP wide front axle and counter gear, Thorp diff and handmade shock...

Nicely done :) . Its good its not the other way around, the paddles being larger in dia
I saw the 1980s vintage promo vid on youtube dedicated to the tomahawk, its in Japanese. And this thing is beautiful! One sold for $850 on ebay, brand...

I am building an original with Rere drivetrain as a runner. Rere ball diff in the rear, retrofitted one-way in the front, rere gearboxes, slipper and blue spur and 41 tooth pinion on the motor. Everything else, other than the rear shock tower and...
I have this kit under my desk for a while. I was my Xmas gift of 2021, and it is awaiting there I have the envy to build it. And it seem it was time. I have a bug envy to build a kit without thinking today...

There was still a few things to do on this car to call it done.
Led connexion was done in the afternoon, after having a small issue with teh ESC and motor : once calibrated the motor would not run. I finally found the cause of the issue being the...

I agree with that, XLR8. I have not read any downside to boiling either (except for the extra work involved), and absolutely true that nylon loves water. That was also why I contacted Kyosho about the wheels to make sure they would not melt or...
This will be my 1000th post at RC10Talk, I don’t know if all of my posts have been meaningful as it states in the BST rules… at least I made 25 meaningful posts sins I have been granted access to BST…
But anyway, this is the first post for a new...

I was wondering where this thread went. I couldn't find it. Thanks jerzi.
Lars, so you've been running the Thorp right? What grease did you use and how does it look now (post vonats?). Is the brass still decent?
Hi guys. A few months ago, I remember reading some of the threads about the original RC10, and the impressive efforts some went to in recreating the original box art car. Both in terms of parts and decals.
Kyosho were just as notorious as...

hibernaculum,
could you post a hi-res scan of the original Tomahawk decal sheet?
Have started to work on a new project - hope you like it.
Any thoughts on where to take this build are appreciated.
There were quite a few surprises when I received the original car and took it apart: Ball bearings throughout, Tomahawk...

It looks like you may have the rear suspension pin's mounted wrong , yours seems to be parallel to the grp plate , one of the pin mounts is taller than the other and this one goes on the outside so the pin is higher on the outside and lower toward...
