My take on the box art Rc10gt New update as of 1/31/2016
Today starts my take on the box art Rc10gt. I don't want it to match 100%, but have it more of a one off copy GT that means more to me As I raced back in the day longside the box art version days. Racer was a huge fan, but lived states away had similar pipes used and electronics. That racer fan "ME" raced his GT at a local track raced on the weekends, but soon retired the truck painted up a new body with matching colors similar to the box design. Did not buy nos parts saved all original parts but few like new spur gear fuel tank and things kept original arms original kickplate and most parts possible love the scuffs priceless but truly cleaned them up with standard dish soap days left in hydrogen peroxide.
I removed all metal parts before the hydrogen process
had the rusted turnbuckles soaking in a plastic bag of M-Pro gun oil
replaced my factory gold shocks and located some used grey ones
Had to replace the brace link mounts mine were bent up I was able to save the old front kick plate bent the bumper mount back to correct factory spec. At the time I had a spare black bumper for the photo while the white parts were in hydrogen peroxide
reassembly starts
More photos coming soon

Sometimes a truck or buggy just has to be left unrestored, if it has a colorful history it needs to be left alone to tell its story.

Re: My take on the box art Rc10gt
New team blue groove body arrived In the mail this afternoon did a ruff half cut out just to make it fit and drill the holes to mount. Jumped on pc used program called paint sketched up some ruff decals. Time to sand the fins on the engine head I started with wet sand 600 grit then finished with 800 grit. Working on a custom muffler wire mount as the stock is not the same as the prototype one stock sits up way to high.

+1 to this, I'd of just left it alone. There's nothing special about a restored GT when it's been done 100+ times on the interweb.RC10th wrote:Sometimes a truck or buggy just has to be left unrestored, if it has a colorful history it needs to be left alone to tell its story.
