Re: XXT Rebuild
The rear wheels with the tires glued to them are going in an acetone bath today. The other set of rears are a bit too chewed up to use for the rebuild, but I'll soak those in peroxide to see how that helps the plastic color.
I decided to go with an "L" size graphite chassis to match the stock length of the XXT. The donor truck pictured has an "XL" graphite chassis. The arms and shock towers will be stock rather than graphite.
I am going to keep the hop ups subtle: graphite chassis and Lunsford turnbuckles. If I can find a new black motor plate I will use that rather than the polished one. When it all comes together I will decide if my Hydradrive with the blue trinity screws looks good with a clear gear cover.

Re: XXT Rebuild

Diff rebuild done. New ends on the turnbuckles. Time to rebuild the MIP CVD and shocks. After this it is smooth sailing .

Re: XXT Rebuild
You might just want to remove the bits of molding flash from those rod ends though.....

~I'm a lot older now than I was then and wish that I knew then what I know now~
Re: XXT Rebuild
Looks like you have a pretty clean truck. I like the shiny bone idea.
Keep in mind, the truck is a newer 'CR' model, hence the XL chassis. Shortening the chassis will deviate from the 'CR' aspect unless you're running on a very short track. It's hard to tell, but the rear arms, rear hubs, and pivot block should all differ from the older XXT.

Re: XXT Rebuild
It is an XXT that was hopped up by a previous owner; it does not have the CR rear. And I am not using the XL chassis. I found a NOS Graphite L chassis to match OEM size of XXT.
The truck came with the #4 pivot plate that is not worthy of the restore. I have a NOS #2 plate. Rear hubs on donor being replaced with new Losi A-9805 XX 2.5 Degree Rear Hubs.
I also have the OEM dog bones that came with the truck. The MIPs are a pretty sought after upgrade, so I decided to clean those up and use them for the restore. The OEMs are cleaned up in case I change my mind.
Previous owner also converted to a dual slipper. I am changing it back to the Hydra Drive.
I am pretty sure all parts I am using appear in the XXT instructions and parts list, either as OEM or options.
**If anything I posted above does not make sense, I am open to suggestions. There is plenty I do not know about all the XXT variations. Thanks!

Re: XXT Rebuild

These are on the way. I also have NOS fronts. I am still going to restore the sets of used front and rears but will not end up on this truck.
Re: XXT Rebuild
You're correct, the PO did do some mods now with that information. The rear shocks should be mounted on the inside of the rear arms if it has the proper CR parts.
Very interesting car then. Looks like it was upgraded throughout it's life

Re: XXT Rebuild
I picked up new XXT rear arms. I never took a close look to see if there were CR arms on the truck; I saw the XXT pivot plate and assumed not. The MIPs and the stock dogbones I have are the same length, so there should be no fitment issue.
**P.S. Does anyone know the nut size for the XXT front axles? Rears are 8/32 but fronts are different. Front nuts seemed to have only come together with the front axle set and do not have a separate part no.

Re: XXT Rebuild
Try 10-32.
