More progress, albeit small. Correct wheel and rim combo finally. I'm not going to cut the lip off. a) I'm not that brave, especially since it took a while to find them and b) I don't want to glue the tires down. Anyone have a set of Losi metal lock nuts for the Losi axles?
Need to find a local machine shop to get the motor plate done.
Geez, it's bad when it takes a year to update a build thread. Anyway, some progress, got the motorplate back from the machinist. Installed the Hydradrive, and most recently got the proper black Kimbrough gear installed.
Body is also painted up, with a few re-release stickers on it that match up with the '93 car. I've contacted MCI Racing about reproducing the others.
Can anyone tell me what the sticker is that is above the Novak sticker on the left side?
Looks good. I was working on mine tonight actually. I was kinda held up on it, needing money to get a black classic tub. But I decided to just use the kit tub. I'm doing more of a modern version of his car, and there would already be enough "wrong" wit it. What would it matter if it had the milled tub......
I don't know how accurate you're trying to be, but Brian used the Mirage SS body, not the turbo mirage.
Yeah, they both came with and without the scoop. No one reproduces it, but one of our members made a mold of one. As far as I know, it's not ready to have bodies pulled from it yet. Needs the holes drilled in it and the window details cleaned up.
Yeah, that's the one. He used to sell the original version of the Mirage SS, but looks like he made a mold of the newer Proline Mirage and is selling them now. You can see the hump on the back for gear cover clearance. The original did not have that. But, It's only temporary for you.
This one will take a little while since I'm lacking quite a lot of parts. Starting off with a bunch of parts I have left from all of these rere kits I've been throwing together.
So this one is going to be a modernized replica of Masami's car that...

It's interesting that the Masami 1993 car looks like a trimmed and tweaked production car and the earlier 1989 and 1991 are basically specialty prototypes.
The trick item for the 93 Worlds seems to have been the milled tub. Some guys had them,...
Sooooooo, when you get 3 of the kits and none of them are being built stock, you tend to have a lot of parts left over. And of course, you just have to do something with them.
I finished 2nd yesterday in the classic class with my Tamiya Manta Ray. Had a great battle for the lead, but caught the pipe with like 40-45 sec left and couldn't catch back up. I'll update that build thread later.

I know you're trying to replicate a specific paint scheme, but I like your design -- sans the black fade -- MUCH better. It just looks so clean. Love it! I wouldn't change a thing.
