Did I just burn out my radio?

Yesterday I was working on my Vintage Rc10 and I went to plug in the battery and I didn't check to make sure the switch was turned off. When I plugged it in, my finger was apparently touching one of the exposed wires that comes off where the battery connects. It shocked my finger, which HURT SO BAD, and a bunch of smoke came from where the battery connects to so I unplugged it. I tried to plug it back in and turn it on, but I get no response. I have plugged the battery in before with the switch on, so my finger was the problem. Only about 3mm of my finger was touching, so why did this burn it out and what did I burn out? I could've burnt out the resistor, but since the steering servo doesn't move I may of burnt out the radio or wires coming off the battery connector. Help?

Very sorry to hear about your radio. It sounds like an electrical short, which may not have damaged the radio, but affects the charger. Can you add a photo of the radio, plug and powercord?

Thats the link to the photos. I had a problem with the pictures duplicating so there are duplicates. The power cord on the charger is fine and it is brand new too. The reason it shorted out was because of my hand, and I think it fried where the battery connects to the rc10, as when old electronics burn up they smell like lotion, and the RC10 connector smells like lotion but no other electronic things smell like lotion. So since it was the connector(maybe), what should i do to replace the wires that come out of it and go into that white cap/twist thing in the photos? In the building manual, it says the two black cylinders coming off the plug going into the cap (with the green wire coming out)are called diodes and limit voltage going to the radio to prevent it burning up, so did these burn out?

While I was looking at the connector, one of the diodes just broke in half

I can't get the photo's to show, but may have an easy way to test the radio system. If you have a receiver battery (holds 4AA batteries), you can plug it into the receiver and test the radio system without plugging in the 7.2V Car battery. If this works, then the wiring from the resistor speed control is damaged, and would need to be replaced.
