Thanks guys. That's oil on canvas right there. But, I've had people swear to me up and down that I must use an airbrush. Cadmium red thru an airbrush? Na, I'd prefer not to die of lung cancer in the next year.

I do pencil work too. I'm better with a pencil than with a brush, I guess because I've been using one longer.

MA, that F-40 painting is off the chain, very nice!

As for those Associated bodies......

WTF???

The paint jobs are simple, they aren't done very good, and they aren't even accurate box-art. Those bodies only cost about $15, those are not $85 paint jobs! I should paint a couple and sell them, but that stuff never seems to work out for me.

AWESOME job Mel, it really looks like a real one, what's your technique and where did you learn? Did you make it from a picture?

Thanks guys. 8)

Asso, I don't know how to explain my technique really, other than it's oil on canvas and I use a brush. Yes, it's based on a photograph that I took of the car. It just takes years of practice, that's how I learned. I went to school for art, but didn't start painting in oils until after I graduated.

Post by Dr. Robotnik »

First WTF about the topics paint jobs and prices.

Second WTF about Mel's photo realistic painting skills, that's insane well done, I've always wanted to do that but can't paint.

Cheers

Ed

Well, so far both guesses are wrong.

Ferretti was looking for an embossed F40 logo on the wing. Only the passenger side of the F40 has that logo.

Hoopty said there are only 3 tail lights. If you look closely, you'll see that what appears to be one light on the right side is actually two. Because of the perspective, they kind of form into one big red mass. Notice how thin the lights on the left side are compared to the light on the right. The ones on the right in reality are just as thin, but in this perspective look like one fat light.
