For lovers of rare vintage race cars - RCL Incident.
Hi guys,
I couldnt count how many requests I have had to take photos of this car and post them up over the few years, from both people on this site and others. This car is pretty much one of a kind. This RCL Incident was the test mule for a prolific Sydney based after-market manufacturer of R/C parts called RPM ENGINEERING. The car that you see here has all the mods that the company developed for for the car, including custom diffs, obviously a custom carbon chassis, cnc'd alloy centre gearbox etc etc etc....way to much to list. The company did produce these parts for sale as well - however they only did a few carbon chassis as they were extremely expensive. Most people made up their own version - however they all seemed to use RPM's centre gearbox and other mods.
Rather than try and "brain dump" everything here in the first post about the car - please feel free to ask questions about the car - whatever you would like to know - I will do my best to answer it.
First - for the people that are unaware fo the Incident - here are a few pics of the standard car:
Suspension was the same front and rear as standard:
Chassis was a "Mech Box" style - which was popular at the time (hotshot etc etc):
Now we have my "Hot" version:
Again - please feel free to ask any question - either about the standard car - or this modded one.
Thanks for looking - and as always your comments are appreciated.
Cheers
Darryn

K, that's a pretty cool looking car! Kind of the same kind of innovative ideas that the Avante was designed around with things being totally unique to that chassis. Very cool!

Re: For lovers of rare vintage race cars - RCL Incident.
Thanks Darryn, been collecting bits of info about this car since I found some spare parts for it more than a year ago.
So the moter sits upfront, opposite to the steering servo: like a mini-inferno?
And the rear takes saddle packs or a stick pack slides under the central axle?
How is the center spin converted to a forward spin: just a single bevel gear straight on the top axle and combined with a beveled diff ring? Or something more complicated like the avante?
I suppose the white stuff is the custom steering set-up: could you make close-up of it?

Wow, I don't feel worthy enough to ask questions. That car is amazing. I love the tricked out version.
He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.

hi darryn I was reading your post about this car over at tamiya club and you mentioned a highly modified kyosho progress you bought off the same guy. Would it be to much to ask for you to do a post on that car as its one of my favourites and Id like to see a modified version.

Re: For lovers of rare vintage race cars - RCL Incident.
Was going through some OLD magazines, and found this review that may interest you guys.... taken from the Jan/Feb 1987 edition of Australian Car Modeller....
Also in the same issue are reviews of the Schumacher Cat, Associated RC500, PB Mini Mustang, and the 1986 Australian 1:10th offroad championships..... great reading!
Let me know if these pics (or any of the other scans) would be better in the Scans archive.....

Hi mate,
That is the actual car that I have - except the last version of the rear towers that they did are on it now.
Still have the original body set - will post pics of it up - so that you can see it in color.
Cheers
