Re: rpm ultra chassis build
Perfect timing on reviving this thread!
I just dug up the old ultra molded chassis I used to race with years ago, and have been looking for related topics about it. Mine has lots of pieces missing, but the majority of it is there. I knew nothing about this kit when I got it. (Used from a friend). This site has helped me better identify it as the buggy chassis, even though I received it as a truck. The previous owner made an aluminum adaptor plate to install between the stealth trans and the chassis to allow for the wider mounting points of truck rear arm mounts. I'd like to restore this chassis back to buggy form. Nothing to perfect, as I did dye it black about 10-12 years ago.
Had I known what I know now I would never have bought a package of dye back then for any of my cars. Oh well, too late now. Please, if anyone can help me out, I'm looking for good USED front and rear worlds buggy arms, a USED front ultra molded chassis bulkhead, and front a rear shock towers. I would like good used parts since I'm going to go ahead and continue my black theme, and there is no way in h
ll I'm gonna dye new parts black. Sorry to hi-jack scr8P
Your build is lookin' great!!

Out of interest, would T4 or B4 shocks fit an RPM Ultra? What are the Lengths?

Re: rpm ultra chassis build
t4's should work. they're 1.02's and 1.32's. the b4's are .89's and 1.18's (i think).hkp wrote:Out of interest, would T4 or B4 shocks fit an RPM Ultra? What are the Lengths?

Re: rpm ultra chassis build
i was bored today, so i decided to get the tie rods on it. anthony hooked me up awhile back with some tecnacraft tie rods, so i figured i'd throw them on this. i hadn't really took notice as to how yellow this car was turning. i don't really pay much attention to it. it just sits on the shelf and i glance at it every now and then. well, i popped those nice, new, minty white rpm ballcups on it and it looks like hell. i knew i should've had this thing stored in a tote.... or something like that.
not to mention, those POS vlt shocks leaked, so all of the white shock and suspension components have a film of oil on them.
so, i guess i'll be tearning it back down and giving it a good scrubbin'. if it doesn't get any better, this bitch it gonna get dyed black.

Re: rpm ultra chassis build
really, you can mask the plastic with liquid mask, and dye in stages--or patterns that would be cool
