How many versions of MX-4
This was given to me by RJ (along with the Traxxas Bullet that I’ve recently rebuilt), and it’s obviously in need of some parts. I’ve downloaded a manual and parts list to determine what I will need to track down to get this one rolling again. Anyway, when looking at what I’ve got and comparing to the manual, there seem to be a slight few changes to some parts that I noticed quickly, being the upper deck carbon parts. The manual shows slightly different shapes to what is here. I’ve attached some pics for reference, if anyone can provide some info/insight would be greatly appreciated

So far I’ve identified I’ll need a rear diff, slipper assembly, rear bulkhead cover & rear shock tower.
Let me know what you know
Cheers, Kym

Re: How many versions of MX-4
So I’m thinking it’s a standard MX-4 with some optional carbon parts? Were carbon parts not standard?

Re: How many versions of MX-4
Only the bottom chassis plate was Carbon Fibre everything else was black G10 fibreglass.
And there was only 1 version of this car but many after market parts.

Re: How many versions of MX-4
Ok cool, next question, did this share any drivetrain parts with other models? Needing the rear diff, belt, and slipper, I’m wondering how easy these will be to track down
Cheers

Re: How many versions of MX-4
Yeah parts wise shouldn't be impossible but as always parts are plentiful when you don't need them Rear diff and rear belt should be the same as the mr4 touring car, front belt will be longer on the buggy and the slipper parts could be a challenge. All mx4 specific parts will start with ZM.

Cheers Peter, I’ve got the long belt, so at least that’s good news, and great that the touring car parts will fit, so the slipper will be fun thenpedro wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 1:15 am Yeah parts wise shouldn't be impossible but as always parts are plentiful when you don't need them Rear diff and rear belt should be the same as the mr4 touring car, front belt will be longer on the buggy and the slipper parts could be a challenge. If you're not going to run it you don't really need a slipper Depends if you want it all original? If that's not a high priority again the assembly from the tourer will fit.

Re: How many versions of MX-4
It shares some parts with the mr4 bc. CVD´s, sus. arms..and drivetrain parts too, but diffs are different I think. Unfortunatelly I don`t have my parts here to compare them..
The mr4 bc had plastic outdrives, instead of metal. But out than that they might be the same. They share belts, but mr4 bc belts are ZS parts and mx4`s ZM. Same lenght. They share steering parts..But the slipper was an option for the mr4 bc,mx4 had it from the box.
Bodies and undertrays are on ebay.
You can find belts on ebay,I think. And I have belts too, and used shock towers as well.
Bukheads are a bit hard to find, specially F ones. But nothing impossible, just patience...

Re: How many versions of MX-4
Doing a bit of searching and it looks like I can get quite a few of the slipper and diff parts I'll need locally.
The Diff out drives are gonna be a problem I think, can anyone confirm the size of the circular plates on the outdrives? I'm wondering If i'd be able to adapt outdrives from another model by machining the plates down to fit inside the rear belt pulley? The Yokomo B2-501MR from the YZ2 I believe look similar from what I can see looking at pictures online
