who knows about the Igarashi versions?
I have seen different versions on Igarashi motors now.
My Reedy motors have a white endbell, then you can see versions with blue endbell sometimes and recently I got a MRP with black endbell http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=7297&p=250478&hilit=MRP#p250478
Someone knows what´s the difference with these different endbells?

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
All of the Igarashi's had blue endbells for a long time. Around 1982 Igarashi probably started allowing orders other than blue. Associated had a stock motor that came with a white endbell, MRP had black etc.
As far as I know all of the Reedy "Modified" Igarashi's were blue endbells. Reedy switched to Yokomo cans in 1983.

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
Thanks Kent for the informations. So early stock motors also have the blue endbell? I have white endbell Reedy Stock motors and one blue endbell Reedy motor what says Reedy Modified at the decal.
But beside the endbell and decal all of these motors look the same. The Modified motor has bushings and the endbell is clamped as the stock motors. Is this with all Reedy Modified Igarashi motors?

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
Correct, all of the early stock motors for all brands had blue endbells.
I think all of the Reedy Modifieds had ball bearings. Mike used to machine out the endbell and can to accept the ball bearings. The endbell tabs were removed (broken off) and the endbells were held on with a couple wraps of yellow tape. I think he removed the stock motor wires and replaced them with orange silicone wires and a plug. The motor shaft came round, the user had to file a flat spot for the pinion gear set screw. He also soldered on a capacitor to the outside of the endbell to reduce radio intereference. The motor label was the same as stock motors, but an extra "Reedy Modified" label was added on top.

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
Yes, that is an early Reedy Modified for sure. I forgot about the cooling holes added to the can. The silver tape is not factory, it should be yellow. The wires are OK, I couldn't remember if Reedy did silicone or not. Maybe I had some endbells that had orange silicone, but production was the standard black/red wiring with plug.
Cool find.

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
Sadly... I think I removed the yellow tape, thinking it was put there by the original owner to keep dirt out!

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
Nice, the one with the red label and the extra Reedy Modified stick is older than the one with the yellow label. Somebody probably added the little screws to hold the endbell on, common mod back in the day.
That yellow tape looks a little wider than I remember... but it's been what... 30 years since those were released.
It looks like a very late production version, flat spot on the shaft, capacitor might be inside the endbell, dedicated one-piece Reedy Modifieds label.
What color are the dots on those? Slotcarrod's is a yellow dot.

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
These are pictures from my Reedy 05 Modifid motor. As you can see there are bushings and the endbell is clamped.
One thing I didn´t notice before there is a flat spot at the motoraxle.

Re: who knows about the Igarashi versions?
I just took a close look at my motor and the tape is silver and seems to be original! I must never have touched that tape then! The picture makes my dot look yellow, but it's actually shiny gold!
