Matteo's RC Movies

Post by XLR8 »

I'm guessing that most of us here are familiar with Matteomeier's work but in case you aren't, I'd like to invite you to go to his Youtube page and check out his RC running videos.

https://www.youtube.com/user/Matteomeier/videos

There are perhaps dozens (maybe even hundreds?) of RC content providers on Youtube that do outstanding work but I think Matteo's work is the gold standard.

From what I've gathered, Matteo lives in Switzerland and near the Alps and many of his running videos are shot on the trails with the mountains in the background. Speaking as a nature lover myself, I really appreciate the awesome scenery appearing in Matteo's videos.

I haven't yet watched all of his videos but, of the ones I've seen thus far, I think this is one of my favorites.

Enjoy.

Doug

I'll swim against the tide - I discovered his channel a few years ago, did not understand why his videos were so popular and my interest waned quickly... I'll go watch a couple of the more recent ones again, I guess.

Right. I'm taking back what i said above. This is abso-frigging-lutely stunning. The view at 2:13 could just be out of a Mitsubishi full-scale, official commercial.

It's one of those things where he is very good at what he does, but follows a very consistent formula from one video to the next, so if you've seen one of his videos, you've more or less seen them all. For me I rarely watch a video of his from beginning to end, but I very much appreciate and enjoy the quality of his videos right up to the point where I feel like I've seen enough.

I've been trying to improve the quality of my own running videos, and his are a big influence in terms of cinematography and shot composure. Where I differ from his is that I try to tell some sort of story via my running videos with a clear beginning, middle and end. But, most of mine usually only pull a few hundred views each, so clearly I've got a long way to go before mine are as good as his!

I had the same reaction.
Maybe if Mitsubishi would hire Matteo to film their commercials, they'd sell a few more cars.
Still, as good as Matteo is at crafting these little masterpieces (and he is very good), it's the Swiss Alps - with breathtaking scenery like that, how could he go wrong?

This is my most recent dedicated running video. Since then I've used clips in some of my review videos, but I haven't done another dedicated running video. Now that the weather is improving, it's time to do some more though.

Well, I am in Switzerland myself and often shoot (non-RC) videos in the alps... and mine suck

I watch a lot of RC videos and I have never seen yours until now.
Actually, It's quite good. I'd have to rank it in the top 25% - there's a lot of really awful ones out there.

Really? Somehow I doubt that. "You are your own worst critic" is not just a cliche -- it's true.

thanks! Hopefully I'll have some more soon. My son is very interested in Youtube and helping with my channel, so once he learns to either drive in a straight line or hold a camera smoothly, I expect to be able to make these videos a lot better.
