Hard to say what the longevity of that composite motor plate would be. I imagine if it got real bad you could run a slightly longer screw with a small thin 4/40 nut like the ones used on the steering balls. But as incredible has said, it’s strong enough for the shelf
Got a fair bit of mock up work done. I’m basically rebuilding from scratch. I had to hunt through all my parts boxes to come up with what you see here. I still need to get a few small items which I have on order.
Built the Rogue Element transmission with 48 pitch gears and Jammin Jay diff tube. The composite craft motor plate got surprisingly tight. So longevity is anybody’s guess.
I got the suspension arms built. MIP CVA axles and Tecnacraft turnbuckles installed. Just need matching RPM ball cups.
Now it’s ready for disassembly to countersink the holes on the bottom of the chassis.
This build has made me realize just how much time we spend on these projects. I think the dampers took me a solid 3 hours to do. From striping to polishing and then rebuilding the bottom loaders with new O-Rings.
That was some tough anodizing on that gold shock cap. I ended up switching it out.
Now that's a sprint car. WOW!!
I still have one of these in pieces in a box somewhere but I don't have those wheels and tires.
Having the right wheels can make the car -- imho.
Just awesome!!!
i picked up this ascot chassis and cage from tulsa. i just through some parts on it to mock up where i wanted the wheelbase set. so, now i can take it back apart and start the build-up. :)

holy crap, that T1 is, how to say it... dead? How did he do that
It had a slight disagreement with the rolling tires of a Ford Expedition and obviously the Expedition won.
after seeing the chromed out sprinters on rc10talk, i just couldnt resist having one on my shelf. ive been scoping to purchase one and rebuild - and finally the one for me popped up on ebay. i think it may have belonged to a new member here looking...

Another option is to get a sheet of G10 and make your own chassis that uses a CW sprint car cage.
I've strongly considered doing that.
no thanks too much work and i want my stuff perfect. always liked the thin simple sprint chassis
Scored this for $100 on the bay yesterday..it's a fair bit different to my BBT is it an Ascot?..can anybody tell me anything about it..what year they came out who made them...those rims look a little different to are they alloy or plastic?
Cheers...

Well I've already started to work on my Ascot I want it to look half decent until I get around to a total rebuild. Anyhow a couple of things I've noticed about this lead me to believe that they weren't made as well as the Big Boys Toys sprinter. The...
I had a Hyperdrive system sitting around that was off the first RC10 I bought....in fact it was the only part of that RC10 that was worth keeping....so I thought  why not put it on my Ascot :?: so while I was cleaning it up I put it on..this...

Looking great Pete. That sprint was good score. Nice work cleaning it up.

I just recently went through this for my big boy toys sprinter(which I sadly just sold to fund a modern customworks racer)
there are two Sprint bodies that mcallister made back in the 80s that would work for the early Big Boys Toys Sprints, and I...
Only a mock-up for now to test how everything fit together....which is remarkably well. I was able to use existing holes on the rear arm mounting plate for the rear of the cage but they do push the main cage about 1/2 further ahead of the rear...

I have been thinking to do this my selves, so I will follow this closely :D
Does anyone know where the display cars ended up? They had a couple sprint cars in glass display boxes going around the dirt turn like a diorama. RC10s converted to be exact. They were gorgeous. I wonder who ended up with them?
I was asked by a friend to make a template of my Ascots chassis for him while I had it stripped down. :!: I thought it might be useful to somebody on here. If you want a copy you will need to pm me so I can email you a full size version.
