XXT Rebuild
So this quarantine had me pull out the XXT and try to convert it to brushless. While scouring the internet for information I've run across this forum and after seeing awesome builds from Jamin, Lavigna and a couple other guys on here, it has made me rethink my actions. So this is my original XXT that I used to race and will build it to a shelf queen. It was pretty beat up and I forgot to take pics of the tear down.

Re: XXT Rebuild
I had the MIP ball bearing steering setup that I never ended up using. I'm assuming because it didn't have a servo saver and would have killed my servo racing. I had to notch the frame to install it. It is much smoother that the original.

Re: XXT Rebuild
Here is where we are currently. Lots of HG hop up parts and even used their GTX rear hubs. I'm not sure if I like the HG shock collars though... XXXT 3 degree pivot block and front titanium axles (Lunsford). You may notice the original steering in these pics. I was going to make this my runner, but I came across a XXT-CR that I will make my runner instead. I dyed the steering parts black and will swap them out with the MIP ones.

Re: XXT Rebuild
Looking great! You have some real nice option pieces. Can never go wrong with the Barracuda Ti outdrives. They are like little pieces of machined artwork.
I have a few sets of the MIP steering kits, but for whatever reason never installed them on a build yet. The HG rear carriers are quite rare and I can't recall seeing them actually installed on a build. I agree with you about the HG collars. There is something about their shape I don't love. Still very cool pieces though.
Looking forward to what comes next!

Re: XXT Rebuild
Thanks Lavigna! I'm probably going to pull of the shock collars, but we'll see how the finished product looks first.
More parts I forgot to take some pics of. I'm pretty lucky and really excited to have these. I'm still on the lookout for some more rare pieces.

Re: XXT Rebuild
Those are some real nice parts! I too am lucky enough to have those pieces. The last pair of Factory Works porcelain outdrives I saw were ridiculously expensive.
I can't tell what is in this HG package?
Looking forward to the rest of your build!

Re: XXT Rebuild
The holes do line up, but it doesn't sit inside the pivot plate flush. It's not as wide as the XXT ones.

Re: XXT Rebuild
Got my body back from paint and it turned out pretty good. It's not perfect, but expectations of paying someone rather than doing it yourself are set a little higher. Overall I'm fairly happy with the job. In all honesty I'm not sure I could have done it better.
