scr8p's absence
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you all know what's going on. So, as some/most of you know I restore cars with my dad at his house. Been doing that as my only job for the last 13 years or so. Well, the last few years has been rough with having quality customers that like to pay. Because of this, we've needed to have 3 or more cars there to spread it around so one person isn't getting hammered with a bunch of hours. That's all well and good if our shop was bigger. Unfortunately, it's not. Not having room to work on my own car is starting to piss me off, and now, my dad recently purchased a 32 Ford Vicky hot rod project that needs to be completely built, and my son bought a 52 Chevy... which is still sitting outside on the trailer since we brought it home in April. We sent one guy packing a couple months ago, so we're down to 2. The Mustang sits more than it gets worked on because of money. The 73 Jag is just about done and ready to leave. We had a guy drop of a 68 Firebird yesterday for some work, not a full restoration though so no real job security there.
Middle of last year, my wife lost her job due to covid. She hopped around to a couple different places late last year and into this year. She ended up getting a job in the office of a collision shop. I didn't know the people, but they knew of us (my dad and I) and have seen our work. Her boss has been low-key after me to come work in their shop. Well, it finally came time that they really needed some help, and I was running out of paying work. Being as though I do still have some amount of work at our shop, I've started to go up there part time 3 days a week... or so. Unfortunately, it's a 45-50 min ride. By the time I get home, walk the dog, make supper and relax a bit, it's time to go to bed.
So for half the week, you may have to wait awhile for a response from me. Setting up the BOTM stuff.... the poll.... may take longer than it already does.

Sounds like you have your hands full! Don't worry about this place. We'll behave ourselves. Go do your thing and take care of business.

As I typed "3 jobs" it unintentionally reminded me of this.

Jason,
Sorry to hear your wife lost her job due to this crap. That just sucks. Hoping all goes well on your end, and maybe get back to your stuff, and back to dad's shop. Very interested in how you deal with collision work.
Good luck.
Todd

Yes, it is a shame to see so many people impacted by this mess. I made a joke to lighten the mood, but I am certain that things will return to some kind of normal for you soon. Maybe better!
