CVA Axle; a clever design

Post by XLR8 »

I was completely unaware this part existed but while browsing through the parts for the Losi 22.5 based drag car, I found these CVA axles.
For anyone who is has struggled with the CVA bone-to-outdrive engagement for the AE Worlds car re-re, notice the CV pin location options in these Losi axles.

These are part number TLR332073 and there appears to be four pin locations. I have no experience with Losi buggies so I have no idea what would be required to fit them to a Worlds car.
Anyway, I thought I'd post this and see where it goes. What do you think?

the area around the pin holds the inboard bearing- you wouldnt have room for two bearings on the small part of the shaft. Also these are metric. A few hurdles but maybe worth playing with

edit...nevermind LOL, you were probably talking about the concept not the actual usage of the part on a AE car

Yeah, you're right. With Losi's bearing placement and metric size, the axle definitely isn't gonna drop into an AE hub carrier so it probably doesn't warrant further investigation.
Still, wouldn't it be nice if it were possible to modify (or make?) the AE axle with optional pin locations? Then, combined with current shim and washer placement options, one would have an additional tool for fine-tuning bone engagement for optimal suspension droop and overall travel.
Also, as I write this, I'm assuming the longer 9911 bone is still unavailable - I haven't looked for this part in a long time.

Anyway, I thought it was a clever idea - someone was wearing their thinking cap that day.
