Just looking at gearing for the six gear with a silvercan.
I noticed on this chart, the FDR for the 27T stock brushed seemed a bit high. I assume this is for an open endbell stock motor. My thoughts were something like 5.5:1 - 6.0:1 using the small wheels on a medium-sized outdoor dirt track.

Just be aware that many motors with that type of can have larger diameter bushings at the pinion end. This will severely limit the amount of adjustment available, without hacking up the motor plate.
The end of their cans tend to protrude a little more as well, limiting pinion engagement with the spur (some might touch the spur). A motor spacer would eliminate that problem.
If you are considering something like a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor, be aware that they have a short shaft as well. Overall, they don't fit a RC10 very well.

I raced a 6 gear gold tub at the vonats in the classic class a few times. Tamiya Sport tuned handout motor. I wish I could remember the gearing. I know an 81 spur, the pinion was in the 23-25 range I think. Motor was hot, but I didn't care. Only had to last 3 runs.
