What to do with old chargers?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has accumulated a number of battery chargers while accumulating cars. I suspect that the copper on the transformers is worth more than most of these beat-up old timer chargers. I hate to throw anything away though.
I could slip them into auctions for cars, getting rid of them the way I got them.
Thoughts?

I kind of have the same thoughts of the crappy Futaba Magnum JR's that were filthy. Sneak them in when you sell something else..

sneaking stuff into your auctions does add aup a lot in weight and volume = shipping cost for stuff I don't need. It makes me pass up on auctions, especially seen the long distance to Japan.

Just take them to your local club and give out the ones that still work to the kids

If the charger is shot, strip it and recycle/reclaim the copper. If it's got some life left, as Ed suggests offer it up to a newbie just getting into the hobby IF it's appropriate (taking into account the current transition away from NiCad to whatever the new fangled fad is ). If it's still usable to you, use it as a second or back up charger. I've got a POS MRC charger that's a piece of poop, but it's good enough to put the primary charge on a battery and then top it with my Tekin b112c.

As an even smaller market share, if you've got any club swap meets in your area, you could offer your stash up there. There are a few vintage nuts who'd still like that sort of thing.

I am in the some boat, tons of old radios, chargers, packs. I have put together some radio, charger, combos and offer them to people I work with, if they will buy their kids a hobby quality kit, I'll give them the other stuff, except for esc, to get them going. I have had a couple takers, only down side is you are pretty much married to the car any time they break something.

I just list them for $2.99 or $4.99 on ebay and let them ride. Sometimes I am surprised by the result, but I am just happy to get them out of my house, heck I would pay someone to take them off my hands. Slipping them in other items works well too. You might be able to find a local electronics repair shop that would take them off your hands for free. Don't throw them away so they end up in the land fill.

This is really strange...I thought I was the only one with this problem. Does anyone want to start a "Charger / Radio Swap" thread. I have some pretty common stuff, but I also have some items that are somewhat rare.

As for slipping them into your items, I agree with Erik about passing on those items. As we've all seen on ebay, there seems to always be someone interested in your old junk.

I belong to a site called http://www.freecycle.org/
When you register, it connects you with the community in the county you live. You can post it up there. Someone close by may be looking for what you are getting rid of.

I have given away a mountain bike, punching bag with corner stand, and about 400 lbs of free weights.

I know there are a couple other users here that are on there. It is a great alternative to those that don't want to ship stuff out.

i personally love the old chargers they are part of my collection as much as anything... electronics friggen rule! gents...cars motors batteries decals etc etc..cant get enough minus the dodgey gear goes without saying.
