Way back in the 80's I raced an Optima very similar to this one. As a teenager, I just couldn't get enough of this car and modifying it just for the sake of changing it. I eventually hacked up some fiberglass plate and took some rear trailing arms from MIP to convert my Optima. I eventually had to go away to college and discovered girls and now most of my old RC stuff is probably sitting in a box in deep in the recesses of my parents attic waiting to be rediscovered.
I was first in line when the re release Optima came out nearly a decade ago. I recently decided to recreate my custom Optima but this time instead of using a hacksaw and hand drill, I have access to a cnc router and associated cad programs. I used Scorpion arms this time to keep everything in the family. I redesigned the front and rear shock towers and copied the suspension mount plate from the Scorpion for the arms. It works and looks OK but I feel that I can go a bit further with the redesign.....
