XX body questions
Are Losi XX bodies hard to come by or still avaible? I found one at a local shop and pass it up. just wondering if I should pick it up next time I am in the area.
Have a nice day!

Re: XX body questions
You can still get them from Losi/Horizon. There was a 9 month or so time span of them not being available and they were rumored to be discontinued, but they popped up again.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: XX body questions
Excellent, thank you mrlexan. I need at least one of these, going by part number it’s correct for my early XX, I was afraid it would be a CR or BK part. Correct wing too, even though I have a new one of those.
I say at least one because I’m going to try bearrickster’s suggestion for the Pro SE too, even though that body is in better shape. But since I’m thinking of “upgrading” my race ride from the XX to the SE, I guess I better be prepared..
Cheers guys, thanks again.

Re: XX body questions
Ummm, yeah, that's why it was in quotes. Meant in a vintage context. I'm not a collector, I raced in the day, and still have, virtually every early Losi race vehicle. Starting with a very early Limited Introductory Series JR-X2. Also have original and upgrade parts that I’ve yet to run across on this site.bearrickster wrote:But since I’m thinking of “upgrading” my race ride from the XX to the SE, I guess I better be prepared..

P.S. what's a Losi T4? Just kidding, I couldn't resist. Hopefully it's all good.

Re: XX body questions
More than happy to. Really, I’m concerned that I’ll ramble ya to sleep. I’ll give it my best shot at the condensed(?) version, you guys tell me if I fall short or go way too far overboard. I've been racing the XX lately in regular classes, after getting my Son racing with a XXX CR buggy and truck. And that was before running across this most excellent site.aconsola wrote:care to share more details, or pictures?Bongo Fury wrote:I raced in the day, and still have, virtually every early Losi race vehicle. Very early Limited Introductory Series JR-X2. No big hole rear tower, single hole lower trailing links, non ribbed trail mounts, yada yada. The clincher, as far as I can find here, non “pro diff”. I.e. no bearing in the center of the diff gear. Only thing I think I’m missing is the early junk orange wheels, think I got mad at the cracking. Well I know I was mad, think I tossed ‘em I mean.
Early JR-XT. Actually ran a converted buggy before the truck kit came out. No chassis servo hole, non pro diff, old 5 link parts.
Both a Proformance and a Proformanance upgrade kit. No, I didn’t misspell, well I don’t think anyway.
LXT conversion kit. Before the full kit came out, I easily lapped the field until everybody else got the kit. WooHoo! Biggest improvement other than JR-XT over the Blackfoot I’ve experienced.
JRX Pro SE. OK, I never had an actual black box JRX Pro, ya got me.
Fairly early XX, but not the first, a medical sabbatical. And I was rocking in the points with the SE in the big multi track Top Gun thingy, damn.
Married with child, limited race schedule. But there were other benefits!
Team Driver’s XXX-T. OK, it’s my Sons, but he’s fully sponsored!
Kid’s XXX-T CR. Started with “Stadium Racing”. That was tough, almost gave up. Mini-LST2 and Micro-T. The Micro rocks!
XXX CR for xmas, but end up donating to the Team Driver.
Oh, and a RC12LW. L, humm? Bud's Super Machine front end. Also non pro diff to start, then converted. Then ceramic. Still couldn’t drive the little bugger.
Lots of trannies, 3 of the LRMs, coverted to pro diffs, but have the old gears.
Ran Stealths in both for a while, Pro kit & XT, then SE and LXT.
A MIP tranny for the JR buggies, uses a regular bearing for a thrust. Just a touch finicky, but when it’s on….. My first dogbones, the Stealths were adapted to the telescopes.
Then on to 2.19 and 2.61 XX retrofits.
Hydra Drives for both Steaths. Losi conversions for an AE tranny in a Losi. How does that make any sense? Hydras for at least one Retro, maybe both. Plus the XX OE one.
Jammin Jay front shock tower, think it’s on the pro kit, not sure. Needs research. Send donuts. Edit: JRX Pro SE.
RPM arms for the JR-XT, ran once. Titanium shock shafts on the SE.
Large selection of original/early tires on the original 5 spokes and 3 piece trucks. But all red rims, same design as original, no cracking issues. Might have the orange trucks, maybe. And some one piece spoked JR-XT rims with tires. Then more tires on SE and LXT rims, mostly stock yellow by now.
All manuals, upgrades, parts lists, most decals. All boxes except my Love threw out the original Limited Introductory Series no picture box top. We both still have emotional scars on that one. It hurts.
KO Propo FET servos, PS-303. The ones with the separate electronics box, just like my bud (yeah right) Masami. The JR-XT would actually turn with these, I noticed some don’t think it will. Well it didn’t. And I didn’t need no stinkin’ hole in my chassis. A newer one without the separate box, it's in the XX and I can't read/can't remember, 1000/1001/2000/2001??? Let's just say it has numbers on it OK?
Pair of KO EX-1 transmitters, because of this site I now know they are “New EX-1”s. Thanks!
Futaba Magnum Jr. Also the new one at the time. Plus some cheapo Hitec Challenger 260 I think it was, my humble start.
Novak T-4, Tekin 600 speedos. Then the high frequency regenerating revolution, pairs of Tekin 411Ps and 411Gs, plus a 420 for when only 12 cells will do. Actually started with the mechanical wiper, haven’t seen that for a while, damn. Tekin and RCD receivers.
Several Sanyo 1200SCR packs, some 1700SCEs 4 and 6 cell, probably 20+ packs of 1400SCRs, some of them 7 cells.
Endurance Racing Products Motor Magnetizer, modified for more current natch.
A ton of stock motors, both pre 91 and ROAR 91. A more reasonable amount of mods, maybe a dozen. Lots of the motors are Bud’s. Twister, Race Prep, Cam, Trinity, Perfect Wound, B&M, etc. Epic and Yokomo, was there another one? Bud's motor Dyno. Big Dog comm lathe. A cement floor for "working" on stockers, oops, maybe I shouldn't go there...
Protech 707 & 706 chargers, a pair of Tekin BC100Ls. Not sure if I still have the charge cord, another probable damn.
Can also ramble on forever about the top drivers I have had the privilege of hangin' with. A couple worlds, many national champs. Including a couple of youngsters that I helped out and encouraged. Isn't that what it's all about?
Sorry for rambling on so, I’ve always wanted to rebuild my stuff for my Son, he wants it too. This site has really inspired me, brings back memories! Now all I need is motivation! I want to get some pictures & scans up, let me know if there is anything worthy. Haven’t yet, torn between before and after pictures (rationalized procrastination really).
Cheers to all, love this site and this insane hobby (or whatever)…. So does my Son, yippie!
