Re: RC-10 Chain Drive Transmission ??
I spoke too fast: read the part saying robinson 48 ptich gears and didn't see a mip 4wd chain.
But your're right it's in the description and you can tell in some pics too.
The price is well over the top in my opinion though.

Re: RC-10 Chain Drive Transmission ??
That is the strangest transmission I have ever seen in my life.

Re: RC-10 Chain Drive Transmission ??
The team pit stop wasn't too bad for back in the day. I remember that it was rather loud...like other chain driven cars. It's not ideal for today's market, but a nice period piece.

Re: RC-10 Chain Drive Transmission ??
I have a couple of them in various states of completion, as we used to run those back in the day on oval cars. They were fast, even if the diff unit itself wasn't all that precise. They were about as common as Trackmasters or Lethal Weapons, so they aren't totally ghosts today. They were a novel tranny because they included multiple top gears so that you could change the final drive of the diff with a simple swap of the internal pinion sprocket.

Just curious...do you remember what the final drive ratio on those were?

Re: RC-10 Chain Drive Transmission ??
IIRC, there were 2 different top gears and and 2 different center gears to make 4 different FDRs... 1.87, 2.00, 2.14 and 2.28 to 1.

Re: RC-10 Chain Drive Transmission ??
Surprisingly mine is very quite but it is running a hyperdrive belt system for the primary drive.I still have to swap the motor plate to the other side as pointed out by Highway racer in a previous thread as the belt drive system drives the spur the same way as the pinion. The motor has to run in reverse to compensate so its not all that fast at the moment.I love weird and wacky systems like these.

Chain drives are loud. We have the quietest cars at the track.
