Stock RC10 tire replacement?
Is there a knock off tire that at least looks similar to the stock RC10 front and rear tires? I'd like to put some new shoes on this BEAUTIFUL box stock car I just got, but I don't want to put 50% of what I spent on the car to go into new tires.

Fronts: early cars, you can either use CRP or AYK, if you can find them. Later cars, there really isn't anything that looks close. I would go with Proline three rib.
Rears: Your best bet is AJs or Tamiya Holiday Buggy... they are plentiful. As for the duplicates, early: Proline did make a close set, but I have never seen them anywhere. Late: Traxxas made something identical with no lettering, but again, I have never seen them anywhere.

Oops, yeah probably should've specified. The original RC10 with the kidney bean wheels. Would anyone happen to know of a source of the tires Jay mentioned?

Put up a picture of what you want, that will help us less knowledgable on the rc10 originals and variations to make a suggestion.call-911 wrote:Is there a knock off tire that at least looks similar to the stock RC10 front and rear tires? Hey Kieth,
Traxxas makes a rear tire that's nearly identical to the original Associated tire (the one with Team Associated on the side wall).

highwayracer

Re: Stock RC10 tire replacement?
As many of you know, Associated used a couple of different tires on the original rc10.
There was the AJ's tires that Kieth's last picture shows. They also had the tire with the TEAM ASSOCIATED on the sidewall. Below is a picture of the TA tire (right) next to the Traxxas Cat tire (left).
The TA tire has a little bit of wear, tha's why the tips of the spikes look a little bit larger. One thing to note, is that Traxxas used 2 types of rear tires on the CAT. This one, and another version that has "V" gorves with the spoke. The tires below do not have a part number on the original header card.

highwayracer

I'll keep an eye ou for stuff like this 'round here, not that I can remember seeing it anywhere yet though.
those fronts are similar to tomahawk or scorpion ones. What diameter is the inner bead of the wheel?

Re: Stock RC10 tire replacement?
Oh...one more thing...
Another little secret that I've kept to myself is that the original ultima front tires (for the 2 piece wheel) fit the original rc10.

Won't re-release Tamiya Hornet tires work? I put some Grasshopper tires on my 1.4 Tecnacraft rears, I just had to trim some of the inner bead off, they fit just fine.

Usually I'm good with the details. Not tonight. I'm going back to the TV.
