M-01 Monte Carlo Mini

Post by FasterLouder »

I picked up a cheap M-01 Mini to blow up with my 5700kv Brushless, but the darn thing survived.
I have since found out it's a Monte Carlo edition.
Everytime I ask someone about the best mods/upgrades for the little M-01,I get told to by an M-03.
I don't wan't an M-03,I know they're a better car,in most situations,but I like the old M-01.
The only mods it has is a full set of bearings and sway bars front and rear.
New chassis, body, wheels, tyres, chrome parts tree, bumpers, suspension arms/links and an old ESC.
Anyone know of some good mods and hop ups to make it better?

The trick will be finding the mods and parts.

I have a highly modified one - I will try and and take some pics for you next week.

I love the MO-1's - great cars....lots of fun.

To be honest though - for a runner - i would just get an M03 as well. I could help you out if you would like one.

Cheers

I have an Abarth 1000 TCR M-02 that I threw the hop-up catalog at, fun car. RWD and a reverse rotation Peak Nightmare motor = stupid fast on the track. Don't know about actually bashing it these days. There are a few reliable Japanese sellers with some of the period hop-ups still. jr-rc springs to mind. Best mod was the Kose steering upgrade.

I've come to the conclusion that I never wanted to restore any Tamiya, even a Mini, but that's what I've wound up doing to the Monte.
I want a Mini to bash around and have some fun with...And to do that to this mint Monte would be a shame.
Time to trade it on for an M-03.
It has so many new parts,it's not funny.
All it needs is a decal sheet and the H parts tree.
RETRO RC-Do you have an M-03 you'd maybe want to trade for the Monte?

COOL!
Just straight traded my Monte for a brand new M-03 kit!
It's going to a good home,a Tamiya restoration freak friend of mine.
I won't feel so guilty about beating the snot out of this one,I have enough bearings in stock to deck it out, too.
I would have bought a Swift kit and bought a Cooper body, but I'll just score some nice alloy parts out of Hong Kong cheap, instead.

Dazzler.... does this mean no Mini coming with you this weekend?????? Shame, Templestowe was just CRYING out for a grudge match.... you, me, jason, willy, and anyone else, ready to go nuts.....

Oh well.............

Just have to make do with beating your sorry arse on Sunday at the enduro...

Already got the T-shirt printed, so reality should be a technicality....

ohhh - I can bring a mini mate - not a drama........happy to take you all on!!

twice ACT champ and runner up at the nats in the Tamiya challenge - just missing the trip to Japan for the worlds by a couple of seconds................then again - that was long ago..might be a bit rusty (crusty!) mate!

Looking forward to the weekend.....you should be "Storming"all over the competition.

Cheers
