Nitro Id help -Pics added!
Hey guys help me out here. I have a friend that has what he claims is a Nitro Monster Crusher. This truck is super old and from what I remember it steers front and rear. He wants 50.00 for it. Can you tell me who made it and if its worth the 50.00? I have no pics of it and have searched ebay with no matches.
I just got pics through fone but they arent the greatest What the heck is this thing?

Haven't heard of it RC Chick. I have seen what was once a LHS owners son's kyosho nitro monster truck that had an aftermarket rear wheel steer setup. If it runs, is complete and has a radio system it would be worth $50 in my opinion but would have to see it first to see what kind of offstream setup it is. you got any pix of it?

Thanks for the pictures
That is the Kyosho USA1 Nitro Crusher, and the manual can be downloaded here.

Re: Nitro Id help -Pics added!
That would be very similar to the one I was thinkin of anyway...and well worth $50. Don't know how hard it is to get parts for but it would be hard to lose money on that deal...even if was a complete POS.

Re: Nitro Id help -Pics added!
If it's bone stock, I'm thinking a USA-1. Tomolupus called it a Crusher which sounds about right. Follow the link he posted and see if the truck looks like the manual, if so you've got your match.
As far as value, as with all things, value is based on what someone is willing to give you. The USA-1 trucks were less popular than the Clod (electric ) because they were harder to modify, had less support from aftermarket retailers, and generally not as good.
That being said, if you've got the time and the interest, $50 for a rig ain't that bad a price, keeping in mind that you'll likely put in 3 or 4 times that amount to make it a decent runner.

Official title was Kyosho USA-1 Nitro Crusher

One I found for sale but didn't buy

A very sweet shell I did buy Cheers to Brandon for arranging USA post.
And my Nitro one unrun unpainted

Hope some of that helps, and it's a steal even to break for bits if the tyres are good

Re: Nitro Id help -Pics added!
Thanks for the help guys. I have always wanted that truck, ive known him for 10+ years and drove it once way back then, but the motor broke. All I know is he has since lost the remote but has rebuilt the motor but never ran it or started it since he rebuilt it. He says it starts with a wheel start whatever that is. I just wanted to see if I could get it to run and drive it a few times and then fix it back up to sit on a shelf. Im going to get it in a few weeks so I'll take better pics when I get it.
And yes Halgar I noticed the pink undies or whatever they were it was parked on! I hope they are his wifes and not his.

Re: Nitro Id help -Pics added!
The truck pictured is a USA 1 Nitro crusher. There was also an electric version that was based on the Kyosho Double Dare but the USA 1 had slightly longer arms. The electric had 4 wheel steering.
The nitro crusher shared about 95% of the parts with the Kyosho Burns. Some of the unique parts were:
wheels and tires (captain obvious strikes again)
front and rear shock tower
Body mounts
8 kyosho kelron shocks
front bumper (slightly narrower than the burns)
Gear reduction system (1 large and 1 small sandwiched together) placed between the clutch bell and center diff gear
hope this helps...

Re: Nitro Id help -Pics added!

Thats a wheel starter, possibly what he means, otherwise a starter box, basically has one of those mounted and you drop the trucks flywheel on to spin it up.

Re: Nitro Id help -Pics added!
The head on his looks alot like my OS RG.21 which is a real decent runner. Even without the radio it will be a nice price but as Halgar mentioned its what you're willing to pay for it. To me and my money situation using your reasons for wanting it $50 isn't too much. It isn't going to lose any more value than that and you wouldn't have any problems getting your money back out of it again someday if you had to/wanted to liquidate your rc collection. To me its a great find and look forward to your pix when you get it.
