CAT XLS- vintage racer
Ive been wanting to get all my old Schuey projects out of the way and here's another one of them. Aside from my Procat which has been a terrific vintage racer I had enough spares to build up a similar car. This time I have opted for an XLS fibreglass saddle pack chassis as the basis. This could be a good thing as the cells sit in a little closer to the centre line of the car resulting in more stable car through corners and the like. Ive had an assortment of cool bits waiting to go into this build and they include- alloy front gearbox housing, alloy 'super hex' front diff hubs, 23mm PRO diff for the rear, ceramic diff balls, Bosscat slipper, Procat front uprights, Bosscat rear lower pivot, performance belt kit, MMS alloy rear shock/wing mount, Schumacher to Yokomo alloy hub adapters, black Yokomo rims and the list goes on. Basicaly I'd like to take this to the track when Im racing my Procat next to see how it compares.
Thanks for looking- Jason.

Is anything preventing you of bringing the saddle packs closer together still?
Looks very very raceworthy.

Re: CAT XLS- vintage racer
Thanks Eric. Im sure the cells could be brought in even further but they'd have to sit on top of the chassis I think. I know you'd like to try something-
From all the driving I have done with my Procat I have paid attention to what makes the car more reliable on the race track. All the mods will go a long way as this car is very very similar to my Procat. Seeing the Procat burn around the race track is one thing but seeing this crusty old girl screaming around with a 12 double 'V-spec' motor will be hilarious!

Re: CAT XLS- vintage racer
I think I got you; the chassis has the cutouts for the saddle pack already in it?

Yes Eric the chassis has cell slots already cut out. I will have to get some more pics up here without the battery pack- LOL!

Re: CAT XLS- vintage racer
This car was so advanced for its era, and structurally it is still pretty close to the modern racers. I really, really wonder how it will fare vs. more modern cars with proper electronics and tires - and a slipper! Might need modern shocks too...
Keep us updated I'd love to see a vid of this baby hitting the track!

alloy gearbox housing
Hi Jason, please tell me where I can get my hands on the alloy front gearbox housing. I have cash or 4wd parts to trade. Thanks. Hi Luke,
Those alloy items are hard to find. Ive bought cars just to get a hold of GPM items like this. I can honestly tell you I have no idea at all of where you'd find one now.
