Re: JRX2 'RETROFIT' XX gearbox help needed.
Thanks for all the replys ! You guys are a great help.
JK - I am running the steel shaft but was considering purchasing the aluminum shaft. Now that you have shared your experience, I am not going to make that purchase.
Brandon - I am going to start looking for the slipper conversion, this way everything is ment to fit together like they originally designed it.
aconsola - I thought there was something wrong with my current setup. I was trying to use the modern XXX slipper with the "shallow" slipper plate, with adding the bearing as a spacer, this setup works fairly well. Maybe if I can find one of the deep shoulder slipper plate; this might work as well.
Bormac - I hope some of this helps you with your build

here is the instruction sheet for the newer version of the back plates. the spacer it came with looks just like the rear wheel spacers, both are ~2.5mm thick

Re: JRX2 'RETROFIT' XX gearbox help needed.
I have not seen that instuction sheet before.
Thinking I have tried that at some time, I tried it again to no prevail. It seems like it will work initially but as soon as I torque on the slipper spring, the trans will barely move. So in the mean time I have added one of the bearings that are used in the diff gear to give it extra width. Again, it is not as smooth as the XXX trans but it is getting close..
Thanks aconsola for uploading the "rare" instruction sheet.

Would they happen to fit if used on an LXT with the retro-fit transmission? If so (and if I can find a retro-fit trans for my new LXT) then I'd be interested

hello Jason, bormac wrote:What I would like to end up with is a retrofit trans that runs the original slider driveshafts. I would like to atleast keep those original to this car so I wont be needing the dogbone driveshaft parts.
I beleive the retro fit trans uses the same internals as the XX transmission. If this is the case, then you can use the outdrives from the XX sport. Below is a picture of the slider outdrives on the xx trans. Sorry, I no longer have the car nor do I know the part numbers. I think there was also a slider conversion for the xx.
Regards,
Roger

Let me know if you guys want me to get the part number for the complete slider conversion set. I have one or two of them, actually saw them today as I was messing around with Losi stuff (yep, that's right Scr8p! )
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: JRX2 'RETROFIT' XX gearbox help needed.
Thankyou for the link Mr Karnivool. I just paid for a a set and this gets me one step closer to a complete trans.
Im also looking for a slipper. I have the top shaft and am thinking of a XX or even XXX set up. I have an RPM gear cover to suit already.
Jay do you have any ball raced steering kits left for the JRX PRO by anychance?
