Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
It is a different nose plate though and different nose tubes. I wonder if that dent didn't come out on more than one of the hand-hammered chassis, since they all used the same template to hammer around.
If you look here in the video still, the car has a wrinkle on the chassis where it was hammered into shape, but the car in the photo sent, current car, does not, or at least I cannot see it in the image below.
Just thinking.

Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
Ruffy, the car I'm comparing Roger's race car to is the box art car, not the manual car I'm building and that I referenced initially. This thread sort of jumped the track a bit while I went down the box art trail for a moment - sorry for the confusion.
It's the third car that Roger displays that I think may be the manual car that Curtis has.
Edit: BTW, I sent Steve an email and asked if he'd check with Roger to see if he still has that car he raced.

Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
Responses to questions from Curtis Husting:
The first two cars Roger displays in the video:
Do you know if Roger still has either of those cars? No Roger does not have any of those cars.
The shock rod ends:
Can you tell if that that is red paint over white parts or are they red parts with white paint? The parts were red and painted white. Some of the white paint has chipped off.
Thanks again to Steve and Curtis for helping with this.

Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
Man, I had to dig back a ways to find this post. Anyway, I finally made a tiny bit of progress by breaking everything down and doing some cleaning, did the Peroxide thing on the plastics as well as some minor milling on the chassis and nose plate. I have all of the parts now, so it's all build from here. The car I'm using is a mildly-used buggy with very few marks on the chassis. But, someone drilled some pretty big holes to ziptie the servo, so I don't feel too bad about running it.
I'm not sure about the electronics. I'm leaning towards vintage and running the T-1X and stock brushed, but I may end up going with a brushless setup. I still don't know which rear tires I'll use.
My pile of parts. They don't look all that white in this photo, but they look pretty good in person. They're a whole lot better than where they started. The lid.

tHEY dONT LOOK ALL THAT WHITE THOSE LOOK GREAT....this section has some great small details in it.
Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
I think they look as white as they ought to be. Kind of like normal people's teeth as opposed to movie star's teeth

Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
Well, this build was shelved for a while, but I finally got it to roller status. There's just one remaining custom part that's in the works ATM. Other than that, I need to sort out the rest of the electrics, trim and mount the body and wing and she’ll be done.
BTW - I mounted the motor plate like that for the photo op.

Re: RC10 Video and Manual Car
I forgot about this build, I was looking forward to your progress when you first started! I love all the detail you have brought to light on the boxart and manual cars! Great work!
How is the body and paint coming?
