I had a car end on fire. My first car in 1990. A 1979 Cadillac El Dorado. $1200. Caught fire in front of a fire station about a year later. No joke.treehugger wrote:i bought a vw golf in a bar in London a few years back 150 quid 5 door rabit 1300 cc it looked like crap but i did 40,000 mile in that car anyway about a month after i got the car i thought i better clean the insides out i found about 60 tickets under the back seat i was really glad i filled out the title i would have had to dump the car

You're welcome. I would recommend verifying with the DMV about title transfer, registration, and any delinquency fees that may be associated. Also, it is California law that the vehicle pass smog at time of sale, you'll need that paperwork when you put it into your name, unless it's a non-op or designated offroad only vehicle, even then, it's better to verify with the DMV before committing to the sale. FWIW, somewhere about the 30 year mark smog is no longer a requirementGAMMACRUSH wrote:wow i had no idea thats cool thanks!

Yeah for sure! There is a 300 dollar third gen z28 on craigslist because they dont have the paperwork. But I need to get a v6 car so I can use the transmission for my car. if i go thru with buying the car I ideally want to keep it for parts and maybe for a motor swap project! Since this happened I have to sell my other project a '71 240z (no motor) I dont have room for bothbadhoopty wrote:dude you live in cali... there has gotta be better 3rd gens for even that price out there...

I'm totally going to wake up early and go to the dmv or call to ask them on monday. This week was totally busy with relatives from out of town and my nephews first bday on sunday, and a wedding! If I dont get this exact car I wont be heartbroken because as badhoopty said they are easy to find cheap! and plus i dont really like T-tops, and on the sport model they are even worse! My dad bought this car new in '85 I am an '86. I used to hate this car with a passion but i have grown to like it from experiences with the car, its been stolen twice! we rebuilt the engine once because of that.Halgar wrote:You're welcome.
