Still have not had time to hit the track, but I was able to use the storage feature on my charger without any problems.

It will either discharge or charge the battery depending on the voltage. Not bad for a $70.00 charger and a left over PC power supply.

Just took a test drive on carpet. I think I am going to really like LiPo :P !!

Now I might not look like a slow 20+ year old car at the track, but instead, a fast out of control 20+ year old car

Would it be possible to charge a Lipo battery, then wait about 12-15 hours before using it?

Be easier than setting up my charger at work.

Thanks,

ED

It is not a problem. Lipo batteries do not drain like nimh cells do when sitting. Lipo is so much better than nimh when it comes to maintenance too.

I'm not kidding when I say you could wait a month easily. They hold their voltage unlike any other kind of battery. I've let mine sit for 6 months or better and they don't drop at all. That's why they say store them at 60-70%. I actually damaged some cells because they sat fully charged for too long. Don't make the same mistake I did and store them fully charged thinking "If 60% is good than 100% is even better! :D " . That's not the case with lipos.

Thanks for the info!

I was very happy with the run time as well. Over 40 minutes with no drop in speed.

I put mine in a storage state if they are going to sit more than a week unused. I store mine at 3.8v per cell and discharge to the storage voltage at 0.5 amps

one other thing, always turn off and disconnect the pack from the esc when storing the battery if they are in the car, I've ruined a pack before leaving it connected to the esc with the switch off (apparently some esc's have some sort of current draw even when switched off)
