Guys, I don't want to rain on ANYONE'S parade but there are a few vital facts that you are NOT considering....

# 1 - Associated is owned by Thunder Tiger - a multi national company that is in business to do one thing only - make MONEY, make lots and make it as quickly as possible...

# 2 - Our hobby (and hobbies in general) have been hit HARD by this - well, whatever you wanna' call it but I think the official term is 'economic downturn' and NO company is as strong as it would like to be as a result.

# 3 - Although demographics are impossible to find, let's just say that there are.... oh... let's be optimistic - let's say 2,500 of us nut cases world wide that would LOVE to see a re-release.... and then let's figure that WE can suck another 1000 or so in for this walk down memory lane...

See where I'm headed?? In my opinion, the numbers are NOT big enough to even cause a meeting at Thunder Tiger - or wherever these decisions are made... BUT, knowing a bit about Asian business practices and ethics I can say that in no way could the numbers be big enough to interest the management of Thunder Tiger or any other large, multi national group.

NOW, my heart says 'Gawd I hope I'm wrong and live to be old enough to EAT those words'!!!!!! :)
Wherever you go; there you are!

Chris K, I see what you are saying.

Tamiya pulls off these re-re cars all the time, but I think Tamiyas are more mainstream. A whole lot of people remember what a Frog or Blackfoot is, only a handful of racers have as much of a soft spot for the RC10... And 50% of them are probably on this forum, and have a few of them already ;)

I'd probably buy a re-re RC10 for £300 or so... TRX-3, TRX-1, Mardave Cobra, RC10, Dyna Storm... that's it, if I had those 4 my life would be complete ;)

Don't need the whole car; I'd settle for re-release jellybean wheels and the appropriate tires. And maybe a source of 2 inch tires besides Custom Works and Tamiya. I know the old cars run better with modern oversize wheels, but they just don't look right doing it...

Then they would sell the ReCycle-10 for something like $500 like Tamiya re-re's...and watch all the RC10 enthusiasts complain about the value of their collections falling through the floor. :P

I'd buy one over that new stuff they're churning out..It'd look great next to my re-re Sand Scorcher.

I'd love it if they'd maybe at least produce the tough to find stuff..like wheels..& maybe a chassis?.....

Kinda tired of seeing hacked/butchered, & drilled into oblivion pans on E-bag...and I ain't spending big bucks on a scalper's NOS offering...

Was there some kind of unwritten rule that stated you MUST drill a lazy-assed access hole to the steering servo on every f...ing chassis in North America?.....c'mon people, it's not that hard to set a steering servo!!!
Projects and shelfers:
Late Edinger, RC10B2, Dual Sport, GT, Kyosho Turbo Ultima, Triumph, Tamiya Sand Scorcher, Blackfoot/Monster Beetle, '67 Beetle, Nikko Rhino, Traxxas Fiero, Slash, Hand-built Dune Buggy..all on here somewhere...

Once a week, Associated posts photos of cars from yesteryear. These are so popular that it's an ongoing thing. It's just a really fun thing to read of all the folks reminiscencing good old times.

In my mind, what should happen is some type of anniversary re-release of the original car with some 'modern' updates (e.g. better steering setup).

This could coincide with the release of the B5 - and hopefully the B5 will be a large leap forward but I can't see how anybody these days is going to advance the buggy class more than AE did with the original gold pan.

Unfortunately in business nothing is done for nostalgia sake it all has to make $ sense. It's fun to dream but if AE has to retool in order to re-release an RC10 then its not going to happen in my opinion.

Since the newest trend is the aluminum chassis (which is a far cry from the original stamped aluminum tub), perhaps they could just pay tribute to the original by releasing a B5 with an orange anodized aluminum plate chassis and shocks and make the rest of the components white instead of black. It would probably be pretty neat looking even if it is a tribute in color only. Probably wouldn't happen but it's a thought.

The ones who collect these to make a profit are crazy, unless they bought a Sand Scorcher when they were first released, never used it then sold it before the the thought of a re-release. They were smart, but anyone else is crazy.

Wonder what Steve originally wrote.. Makes you wonder... :D

He gave the release date and showed a bunch of detailed pics

NO, he said the same thing he said in his "revised' message - but please keep your imaginations running wild
