Re: New to the Blackfoot and have a few ?'s
Correctly mentioned, the Blackfoot was not the first. There was the MRP high roller about that time also. The blackfoot was way more popular. As a teenager I remember building 5 of them assembly line style at Christmas time for the hobby shop I worked for.
This was a favorite of mine also so when I got into collecting i wanted to have a blackfoot in my collection. The only reason I have a monster beetle is that I had collected so many Blackfoot parts, I had enough extras to build a Monster Beetle

I did say "sorta".......*cough*..sort of.

The were a bunch of trucks produced before the 'Foot, but not many were nearly as popular.

Re: New to the Blackfoot and have a few ?'s
If I'm not mistaken...and I could be because I was never really into that category of RC...the Big Bear was the first "monster truck" RC. Before it were other trucks; offroad trucks, wheelie-Jeeps, etc...but it was the first RC that was a lifted truck with monster-size tires. It was a bold foray into a new niche but ultimately wasn't well-received. Tamiya must've took notice and made the Blackfoot, which was very popular & successful.

Can somebody post a pic of the lower servos mount I think I may have found one local via eBay. Just want to make sure it's the right part.

Re: New to the Blackfoot and have a few ?'s
It wasn't well-received because it was a horrible runner. The tires hit the body at even moderate steering lock, the steering links were made of cooked pasta, and the suspension made this awful screechy spring noise as it compressed. Fun in a straight line doing wheelies, gorgeous body set, but otherwise useless. I think they sold well, but they probably soured a lot of people's opinions about RC with a bad first experience.Coelacanth wrote:If I'm not mistaken...and I could be because I was never really into that category of RC...the Big Bear was the first "monster truck" RC.
