i just rebuilt the stealth in my truck last night and it spun for 9 seconds out of truck with a 93 tooth spur. this is one of my weekly racers and it's a far cry from stock inside. it has thorp 64 pitch tranny gears w/ aluminum topshaft, aluminum outdrives, slipper eliminator, ceramic bearings with sheilds removed and highspeed teflon turbine oil.

Ok, i've been dying to ask this... are those 64p tranny's really smooth or somthing... like whats the advantage? I've always run 64p in my pan car bc you get narrower jumps in ratio but in a tranny its still fixed so what do youuse them for?

templeofspeed wrote:More like 1.5 seconds... I have a few six gears that were built by an old racer done the Jim Halsey way, without the felts in the outdrives they will go about 5 seconds. If you put 3/8 x 5/8 bearings in place of the felts and retainers subtract about 4.5 seconds... but bomb-proof.
temple... do you find that new idlers wear more quickly with bearings on the outdrives? I've used bearings after the idlers were worn and the tranny still feels tight.
