Stadium Blitzer for Park Duty

I took the gamble to drill out the ball studs and it was a good idea. I found some old hex style AE turnbuckles that were the perfect length with the shorter AE ballcups. I also flipped the steering blocks and installed some AE ballstuds on top. Bump steer is gone and steering works fantastic, if anything there was too much steering to the point where the tires would touch the body. The EPA had to be dialed down a few % and seems perfect at the moment.

The truck has been wired up and ready to run, I've only run it around the house so far as it's pitch black outside. I also think there's a fair bit of dynamic timing dialed into the ESC as it spooled up pretty crazy for a 13.5, which I didn't check, or expect for that matter.

I wonder what to do for tires, I've got my eyes on the Street Rover tires for the street but Blitzer rims seem to be out of stock through the major parts houses.

That turned out nicely.

The stock steering still annoys the hell out of me. I remember building the Beetle and thinking, "WTF". If it had skinny buggy fronts it wouldn't have been so bad. But with the wide truck fronts I had to modify mine too.

I've got a set of four white Blitzer rims here with the tyres from the Dyna Blaster, TR15T and Street Rover. I'll bring them down next time. They're in good condition for a !6 year old wheel tyre combo. They're yours for nought if you want them.

Thanks, how come you stopped playing with the beetle?

The stock steering is pretty appalling and not well thought out. It wouldn't have been hard or taken much for Tamiya to come up with a better idea. I understand these are very basic vehicles but wonder how much better they could have been.

Thanks for the offer on the wheels, I'm happy to trade you something or give you some money for the wheels and tires.

Went to a park today and had a blast, it was good to get back to the basics and have some fun. Even the wife had fun driving the Blitzer around.

There was a bit of boost and turbo wound into the ESC which was good in the wide open space, plenty quick and plenty of power. The grass was pretty power hungry but battery life was good considering.

It got sold many years ago. I fixed the steering and added adjustable upper links. Pretty good fun.

As for payment,

if you don't mind I'd like to borrow your DeLorean to get back to 1985 and meet Mcfly's girlfriend. Errr, I mean rob all the hobby shops of their old stock at bargain prices and retire on the profits.

Keeping with the theme I added a basic heat sink that I think is pretty fitting. The motor gets warmish running in the thick grass with boost so hopefully the heatsink makes a little bit of difference. I will dial it back a bit as it's much quicker on the asphalt then it needs to be, but borderline out of control on the grass is fun, lol

Looks like fun. For bashing around I have to say I love the idea of non adjustable tie rods. Easier and less to break. Stadium Blitzer has a nice period look to it compared to modern bashers.
