Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project
Mine had the Dykes ring, I was told it was not a very competitive engine at the time but it was plenty of power for me! Haha!

Yes Dykes ring.
I heard it was less power than let´s say a K&B but more power than the average engine. Also heard it was really good engine for endurance races because of troublefree running and low fuel consumption.

Continueing with the build.
Rear axle and blocks were cleaned, same for the disk brake cam and brace. Pins holding the brake shoes were pressed into the right rear axle block.

Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project
Pins for supporting spur gear and brake disk were pressed into gear hub.
This was not the easy task it does look like. Pins stuck halfway through the hub. Later I found production issue with that hub, means holes being too small diameter. Tried another hub which came with larger holes. Done.
Using a large, heavy vice does help a lot.
For the brake there were two disks made, steel and fiber disk. I went with the steel version. Interesting fact is the steel disk came with a rough surface from factory for improved brake action.

Next step will be preparing brake shoes and cleaning remaining brake parts. Steel parts need some deburring.
Rear end will be completed.

Engine mount blocks added to pod plate. Left side wheel hub added to rear axle and adjusted. Brake shoes, cam and brace waiting to complete the assembly.

Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project
Right wheel hub added, this rides against the gear hub. RC300 rear wheels use four 5-40 bolts for mounting to the wheels hubs. But changing spur gear is a snap as you could remove right wheel/hub assembly with just unlocking the single set screw for the hub.
