American, or at least non-Chinese made shoes???
Re: American, or at least non-Chinese made shoes???
I don't want this to turn into a political conversation. The labor problems talked about earlier are definately a concern here, but the other half of the problem is the tax laws of the US government that makes it much more attractive for a US company to move its production out of country. We still have antiquated laws from the Truman administration on the books that allow a US company to move operations overseas and pay that countries (usually much lower) taxes on their imports as long as they keep that money overseas. Which just encourages companies to build the economy of foreign countries (and not ours), look at the boom of the chinese economy in the last 10-15 years, that's partly the result of US dollars being reinvested over there instead of in our country. That being said, good luck with the shoe search.

years back when i was working on the army advertising account i would get little items of flair from time to time. pretty much anything with the army logo on it that would end up in the hands of a recruiter, mom or dad, or highschool kid.
all of it made in china... just wrong.

Maybe it has changed, but I heard several years ago that our Army Berets are made in France.

Now that would make perfect sense.

Obviously it interested you enough to look into the thread and post. What does it matter, you don't have to read it if you don't like the subject matter..... meant with good intentions of course.

I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Nothing. That's why it's in the Off Topic section. It has to do with shoes and where they are made. How is your reading comprehension?hugger19 wrote:what the hell does this post have to do with r/c stuff.

I'm too tired at the moment to read the whole thread. I'll try to do it in the morning when I'm not half asleep.
IMHO, you'll be hard pressed to find something that is NOT made by some depressed/oppressed, third world country because of the cheap, abused labor and lack of environmental conservation laws. Now, lest I be labeled a tree hugger, I am fully cognizant of the fact that industry creates pollution, however, there are countries that strive to control and minimize their impact, and those that wantonly and willfully chose to rape the citizenry and the planet.
China was the focus not long ago for pet food products that were tainted by melamine. Gee, big surprise, animal food wasn't the only thing that they've polluted with melamine, they're also putting it in their own human food supply as well as exporting it for human consumption globally. For those that don't know, melamine is a toxic chemical that simulates acceptable nutritional levels of a food product. This is a country that not only abuses it's citizenry to produce substandard garbage, it's now poisoning it's own and the global population with it's reprehensible environmental practices as well as it's products. Don't forget about putting lead in the paint of children's toys.
It's nearly impossible to purchase everyday items, anymore, that don't carry the made in China label, even if it's an American name brand.
