Re: Klunker with a facelift
Regarding those Losi a-2038 rear hub carriers Doc J33p had 4 up for sale a week ago. Why don't you check with him they might still be available:

Re: Klunker with a facelift
A & L made CF chassis stiffeners bitd which is probably where the idea originated, they are very difficult to find and expensive so it looks like a simple L shaped piece of material maybe aluminum or CF which might be available at McMasters Carr or some place like that. If you can tie it into the front battery mount midway then it really does the job.

Re: Klunker with a facelift
That's a nice looking klunker. Glad to see your arms came out good. I'm still debating on dying mine. I'll finally get to finish my build by the end of the month.
Keep us in the loop with how you make out with your new hubs.

I should have let you know, but I forgot. Those turnbuckles you gave me the part numbers for worked great.vintage AE wrote:That's a nice looking klunker. Glad to see your arms came out good. I'm still debating on dying mine. I'll finally get to finish my build by the end of the month.

Re: Klunker with a facelift
Through the help of a01butal. I have located some Losi hubs. That should have my CVA problems fixed.

Re: Klunker with a facelift
for the record, there's nothing wrong with the rpm carriers. i just like the 2038 hubs because there a ton of camber placement options. if i remember correctly, when david and paul built theirs, they had to drill a hole higher in the bulkhead to get the suspension to work the way they wanted to. you won't have to do that with the losi hubs.

Hey scr8p,
I prefer the losi hubs too, but if I cant find any I may have to go with the rpm hubs. Do you happen to know the part number for the rpm hubs?

Re: Klunker with a facelift
I just decided to use the Losi hubs, so that I could use the bearings I already have and for the camber links. I just felt they will be a easier fix for my camber and cva problems.scr8p wrote:it looks like 70272. that's just for the carriers.

scr8p, I thought that I was posting this message a minute ago. And I think I must have hit the report button and entered my message in the reason box. Sorry about that.

Re: Klunker with a facelift
I used aluminium tubing for the stiffners, and to strip the chassis, I just stuck it in the bead blaster at work and blasted it off.
