Superb as per usual Ben. Really like the blue window frames, makes it 'pop' as they say! 8)

Cheers chaps, I was worried how well the paint would go on as its an old shell, but was fine in the end, phew!

Just need to swap to some yellow wheels and discs also. I like the white wheels/red discs, but it doesnt suit my paint scheme.

I've got some old-skool pink machine cut stickers, but it just doesnt look right on the shell...oh the decisions! FFS get on with jamin! Hehehee.

PS Dan, I've a re-pro accelerator shell that I might consider selling, now I've done the Jammin one I am happy the XX is nearing completion.

Funny you should say that. I could do with one! I had planned to use a standard xx shell on my g/f's build, forgetting completely that it doesnt fit thru the slimmer shocktower. It would save me shipping one from usa :)

Ben, I already have an Xcellerator shell from Brandon's 1st batch, I'm saving it for my new build project (whenever that happens!) ..... I will prob get a TBG one for the runner at some point, but if you want to offer it to urpaldan feel free ;-)

PS; think there's some suitable decals on a certain auction site that would be suitable - very tempted myself but I think your cars are far more worthy :-)

A few shots of the shell on the car. I need to get some die-cut losi stickers made up, I have some pink ones, but they just dont go, so ideally need some fluo yellow ones, for now, this is where I'm at.

Had real trouble getting the camera to pick up the colours correctly, the window frames are a lot lighter than the pics suggest and the yellow was coming out rather dull, still, think I managed to get it close.

I was looking through this thread earlier and I can't believe I nearly spent 2 years on this - where does the time go!?

I've got another wing I want to spray up, a more original 'V' wing, but we are getting very close to COMPLETED! :?:  :?:

Oh I forgot that I am after some Lunsford quick tune mounts for it, I have them on my XXT and think they would look cool on here too 8)

I thought a little before/after comparison would be cool.
Before...

...after
...after
Gearbox and steering bell cranks are probably the only original parts!

Well I can truly count myself lucky of late, not only did I find a NIB Kinwald kit, but also I happened upon a mk1 milled alloy motor plate, from Jose here on this forum. Been after one of these for a long time indeed, and finally i have one!

I didn't realise that these were different (milled in straight lines and a lot more of it) from the centre-motor plate kit that was available several years later, but I do remember having this version on my first XX. I am struggling to find things to fit to the car now, what with the Trinity flake front tower, blue 4-40 nuts, Jammin front brace and now this plate. I am going to add some Lunsford quick tune mounts soon, and then it should finally be done.

Exceptional build, Ben! 8) This was the inspiration for my XX Graphite build.......but I've yet to do the body......the bit I always procrastinate on. I might also have a play around with some different wheels too but I want to go metallic purple.....

Its always good to motivate other members - I still need to dye my XXX wheels black like yours Luke, they look really sweet on your build!

Its great that we can play around with 'wheel colours' just by painting up the lexan discs! :D

Ben,

Regarding your before and after photo's.......were there any parts actually carried over or did it end up being a new build from new parts? I can't remember without reading back and I'm feeling lazy.....

I replaced most of the parts eventually. Trouble is I did the rebuild, then slowly found more and more parts I could replace with new items. Most of the gearbox is original, apart from the outdrives. Bearings are from the old car, and the steering assembly. That's about it!
