No Mr. ED I haven't sorted the straps yet I might see if I can get hold of the original type.
The Gator body looks the bizz, I think that will do the job nicely

If you want something for an Optima, RC10 shells fit great (if we''l ever see them again!)RichieRich wrote:WOw, that Desert Gator body looks pretty sweet. I wonder how it will do on a Turbo Optima. The wheelbases and mounting locations are very silimar to the Ultima. Do you think it will work? It's $10 on tamiyausa's website. And it comes with the wing.
How about a B3 shell?

I'm sorry, I never had an optima, so I can't judge the fit very well.
But this body is really cheap, so maybe you should just try.
I think I will order me a sand viper also
The Gator looks more like a Shumacher body, while the Viper reminds me more of Kyosho.
I may even get the whole kit: it comes with all bearings and I 'd like to put the wheels and tires on this ultima for racing.

Duratrax Ultima Pro XL finished with Tamiya body.
Well this is is pretty much finished (barring battery straps and servo posts). I have fitted a Tamiya Sand Viper body inspired by Mr. EDs Gator success. I'm real happy with how this has turned out , I have tried to fit the body in a from factory manor (using pre-drilled holes). Any comments welcome and I'm open to colour suggestions also.

I knew this was gonna be goodlooking!
Now don't ruin the paintjob like me...and then show us the finished beauty.
For the mount in the rear: I made a little separate plate that is bolted to the top of the bulkhead. The body post needed is much shorter this way, and you keep the lower plate available for mounting the ESC.

Thanks for the kind comments chaps, I still haven't decided on a paint scheme yet it's going to have to be simple though cos I'm crap at anything that requires patients and skill.

Two and a half hours of preping, masking, painting and impatience leaves me with this, what ya think be gentle first shell painted in 6 years.
