On a tip from another forum I just opened up the 1500 mAh lipo that came with it and its a LI IRON battery inside or at least its two LI iron round cylindrical cardboard covers cells with no markings other than QX !
As I said this was discovered elsewhere and might be a way around delivery problems with lipo battery's but before charging the battery I though I'd just have a look at mine to make sure I had my charger set up right , I don't know the ramifications of charging LI IRON as LI PO but I can't be very good , so it might be worth cracking open the casing and seeing what's actually in there before charging it !
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

I've heard the battery is extremely light as well.
Very light , the cells only half fill the case !

Nice. I haven't got around to experimenting with the shocks too much. Sounds like yo're making progress on them. I was eyeballing the rc4wd super scale superlift shocks. They would look great with the red boots. Not sure how difficult it would be to fit them up. They're not cheap either.

I was having a play with shocks that I have laying around and mounting them is an issue , at the top with the rubber bush and sleeve with two nuts you need a shock with a long thread on the shaft in order to fit through , otherwise you would have to change the top mount , easy enough but I like the original top mount .
Of course you could cut a longer thread onto the shock shaft but you'd need to be very careful not to damage the shaft where you clamp it , I guess if you clamp it only where the piston sits on the shaft then you won't damage it where it passes through the seals .

Basher how did you get the clear lenses out of the front panel , mine won't budge , I've tried hot water and prying but nothing !

Last night I started the painting , firstly the interior , a red/brown seat , light tan dashboard , the red/brown again on the steering wheel and black floor ,roof pillars and inner door panels .The front grill is satin black and the rest of the body will be Tamiya TS-7 racing white , its a cream white , there will be other detailing like door handles etc and I'm going for a distressed look , some rust ,scuffs and dirt , it not going to be a pristine truck but more used looking .
I'll post pictures in a bit .

I know the door panels are available but my budget for the month is spent so they have to wait , I have a lighting kit ,tyres and a driver coming .
I ran out of paint and couldn't source it locally so I'm waiting on that as well now .

I do have another conundrum , I like the front and rear bumpers but not in white :( I'd like them black but its that soft plastic that I'm not sure will take paint , I have some vinyl paint that should flex but I'm not sure it will stick ? I'm tempted to try dying it like nylon , any thoughts ?

I did a bit of tester on an old piece of Tupperware that's a similar type of plastic to the bumper , I tested half with an adhesion aid spray and half without then used two different paints , the half with the adhesion aid was better and one of the paints was better but the results were still disappointing , I'll have to look into die .
