Re: Exciting news......
I'd guess it's a fiberglass chassis. cf on this car wouldn't make much sense. The description says FRP main chassis, I'm guessing that's Fiberglass Reinforced Plate or something along those lines.
The official promo shots look awesome.
I'm gonna give this car such a beating.

That's so cool. I want really bad now. The sand scorcher was the one rc I got rid of years ago and still regret it. I am gessing the chassis is fiberglass reinforced plastic?

It's fiberglass (FRP), but it still looks like a quality chassis. Way better looking than the bland original.
I hope Tamiya will be producing plenty of parts to support it, 'cause they're gonna make a load of money from several different fan bases. Not only can we finally buy new to run, bash, & shelve, but all those nearly dead 'Scorchers, etc. can be made serviceable again. It's a winning combo for everybody. Maybe beaters will drop below 3 digits for the first time in a couple decades...

Re: Exciting news......
Not to mention all the ebay guys that will get the kits at cost and sell off the parts seperately. That's a good thing, as I really need a new motor cover for my Superchamp!
Does it say if it is a locked rear end, or does it have a gear diff?

Re: Exciting news......
That seems like a pretty good price. Did they say when they would be back in stock? I am hoping they re-release the sand scorcher or at least the body set.rctenracer wrote:I just back orderd one from tower. $339.99

Re: Exciting news......
They say late june on there site . Having delt with tower for years i would say late july or early august. Anyway I have paid for one the sooner the better. If this kit sells the way tamiya wants it to maybe by Xmas the sand scorcher will follow.
Re: Exciting news......
That would pretty cool. Iwould love to get another f-150 kit and have always wanted a sand scorcher.

Re: Exciting news......
It looks like Tower is taking advantage of the pending demand:
They were showing $449 as of 4pm today...when I added it to my wish list.
I'm not sure what happened.
??????????????? I must be seeing things, I went back to check the price and it was $339....
I can't wait until the next decent discount offer...

Re: Exciting news......
$340 !!!!!!! i think ill just wait for the blackfoot... or the rc10t5..dont get me wrong i think there real cool and id want one, just that price seems too high... then if i want to run it, besides radio gear you need a special bat and i may want a lexan body for runin.. oh well the price makes it looks like im not into these cars as much as i thought...its all what your into.. people thought i was nuts when i bought my new in crate limited edition black 2006 yamaha yamaha banshee(atv), then spent alot of cash in mods for it..

Re: Exciting news......
I'd say $340 is a great price for a kit like this. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I've got my $60 off coupon, they sent an email 3 days ago.

Re: Exciting news......
$340 for a reproduction of the iconic R/C buggy is a bargain at twice the price. It's not a Hornet or a Grasshopper. That chassis is almost single-handedly responsible for all of R/C off road racing. I have sold almost all of my collection of cars, but that one will be on my shop shelf.
