Allright, here we go- from left to right. POS SKS  , A very sharp Enfield followed by an obscure svt-40, some variant of the AR-15 although the full folder is more ar-180, followed by another POS SKS, then what looks to be a Ruger 7(00) or a Remmington 700 copy with a large objective scope ( maybe a 14x60?) ending with the wonderful Mosinagant.

Then the Tokarev 33 pistol (russian) followed by a Springfield 1911 with extended beavertail and amberdextrous saftey and night sights ( which makes me pretty sure it's a 22LR conversion  ) And a full frame Glock A2 (second revision) post ban (with night sights) maybe a 19 or 22- followed by a Ruger 22 target pistol and......

hmmm....i just can't let this go.

i've been into tactical training for years. we meet on sunday mornings (we call it the "church of terminal ballistics")
i've met 100's of different people there and the conversation always turns to guns of course, never has anyone ever bad mouthed the sks. ar's and mini 14/30's sure get alot of bad mouthing, and the ar guys love to pick on the ak but no one ever disses the sks.

out of the 10 or so sks's i've owned the only pos was a 58 romanian that couldn't keep it's rear site on.

68 albanian is one of my all time favorites
sks model "d" (thumbhole stock and ak mags) is another favorite
51 russian
82 chicom (the cheapest model i own, with alot of stamped parts)
84 norinco "sporter"
and a few yugos and random chinese, never and issue although the yugo's have non lined barrels.

all of these have been spot on, never jam, relatively accurate (the albanian is very accurate), i just love'm!

i still love ya reg, but when the shtf you know what i'll be carrying.

You know what is mostly about the SKS for me? The hundred or so that I've seen guys with that are equipped with $.50 thirty and fifty round "mags" with follower springs made out of non tempered metal, the 8 dozen guys that use the bayonet as a mono pod in prone position, the welded on "flash suppressors" , stamped parts....cosmoline somewhere in the weapon at any given time etc...

i agree with that, they are best in stock form.

i always bust on the guys with 30 round "duck bill mags". if you want an sks that takes ak mags then buy one that is like that from new.

in stock form i can reload a sks faster then an ar or ak, granted it's only 10 rounds but i can do it fast and smooth every time.

those guys with the "riced out sks'" are no different then the mall ninjas with every accesory they can get on an ar. the mall ninja's just have a higher budget. lol

That SKS on the left is a first generation Russian Tula 1949 never issued! (I was the first to shoot it!) It is the most sought after SKS and is quite valuable! It also is dead accurate, even with steel core surplus ammo!

The other SKS is a Russian 1953 issue that I bubba'd out. Only because the AK47 is prohibited in Canada and I can't own one! Unless it was grandfathered to me! Our laws are messed! Yet I can own a M4, Tavor, Masada, and many other AR's but no AK series gun! Oh Canada and the effin Liberals! The Russian SKS is the closest I could get to the heritage and feel of a AK47. I like my Russian SKS's!

wut say you?

7.62x39 and .308 are very different. i think you are thinking 7.62x51 nato, thats the same as .308.

7.62x39 is the sks/ak round....

Sorry kaiser, I did not read your other posts!

As for the 308 and 7.62, what Reg is saying is the caliber (diameter) is nearly the same.

Reg, no prize for you! Although you are very close!

Rare 49 Russian SKS (not POS) , Longbranch #4 mk1 Enfield, Bubba Russian SKS (not POS), SCAR, Parker Hale 303, Ruger mk III Hunter with Volquartsen parts, the last target pistol is a Margolina from the USSR!
