Re: Project Circle Track
Russ, just a bit off topic but do you remember Mike Ellis? He used to race with me and Barry Raborn. We are trying to get the old Bullet boys back together on the track again for a little nostalgic fun.

Re: Project Circle Track
Fredswain - Mike Ellis rings a bell, but I really can't place him. If you guys all get together, be sure to get some pics posted up, and let us know who's who.
Longboardnj - I bought this car on ebay (real cheap) just to have a "transition piece" between my 6 gear and TC4. Except for the chassis being badly scratched up, it's in great shape. I had never planned on racing it.
Tommykart - The body is a Mcallister 55 bomber. It's 9" wide, and fits over the DS suspension pretty good. But there was no way the wheel well marks would fit dirt tires. I think they use pan cars for their advertisement pics.

Re: Project Circle Track
Russ, you might be right about some of the bodies being on pan cars. I spoke with Gary when placing the order and asked if the Devil's Bowl would fit the RC10. He was excited to report that the body was sitting on a mid-motor RC10 in the photo (you can see the rear bulkhead). Granted it was a graphite chassis with lowering kit up front. On my bomber, the headers appear to have been molded to fit around the tub chassis.
Re: Project Circle Track
thanks russ. I have had this body for so long and i want to finally use it , and making a circle track bomber would be fun

Re: Project Circle Track
nice body.. how cool would it be if they took the scale crawler idea and made rc hotrods.. just think if a company like axial used a full frame with the motor up front ,one of there axels out back and a 55 chevy body ..perfect circle track bomber, id need onetommykart wrote:thanks russ. Re: Project Circle Track
I used one of those Axial setups in my tractor. It's a posi rear end, but you can get a gear diff for it. Even if you used a mid-mount gearbox, you could still come up with a pretty scale looking hot rod cruiser.

Re: Project Circle Track
Well today was race day, so I took the DS to try my hand. Pre-race practice had too much side-bite, so I ditched the Pro Lines for the CustomWorks tires on the rear. The first heat hooked it right up...1st place at 37 laps. People freaked when they found out it was a 20 year old car! (which made it even more fun beating a B4.1). The second heat had more rubber being put down, and it started pulling the left front coming off turn 4. The result was basically the same...1st place at 36 laps. For the main, I put a pre-load clip in the right rear, and it helped keep the front end down. Another car got the jump on me at the start, but around 30-45 seconds in, he got sideways and I never looked back. I had to baby it through 3 and 4, but it was on a rail everywhere else. The final result of the main: 1st place at 36 laps. The speed was about equal to everyone else, but I think I found a good setup. Not bad for a 20 year old car.

Re: Project Circle Track
Thanks man....I had a blast.
Next Saturday is my turn to work, so I won't make it for any racing. I'm only there until noon, so I may swing by to check out what's going on.

Sounds good. I trust my batteries will arrive by Saturday. Maybe I can turn a few hot laps before the "Old Guy" returns!

Re: Project Circle Track
When I'm at my busiest at work and can't make the first heat on Wednesday night, I''ll often call up and have them sign me in. I''ll just run the second heat and mains. On really busy days I may just show up and enter the d or e main. Makes for some of the funnest race days. Congratulations BTW!Russ Winn wrote:Thanks man....I had a blast.

Re: Project Circle Track
Thanks Thumb...I think next week starts the FDOS series there. By the time I got off work and managed to get over there, it wouldn't be worth it. Besides, if they're starting the series (which I don't care to run) pit space would be at a premium.
Chris, this "old guy" is just hoping today wasn't a fluke
....I guess I'd better clean the car, just in case.

I hear ya. And my apostrophes are still showing up as quotations.
