No i just wanted old not scrap heap , round here we have whats called "green lanes" , these are ancient writes of way open to every vehicle and walkers alike , young people take old 4x4's and go "green laneing" at the weekends, some are easy ,others very challenging , i wanted it to look a bit like what they use .

Hi guys,
I'm new here, and really am inpressed with what i have been reading here.
A couple years ago i was able to buy a couple of the re re Bruisers at decent prices, but i am really intrigued by this clone.
I naturally want to get one to have a project to enjoy working on. I love to rework/modify stuff like this, but am also wanting one just to enjoy.

Seems like the quality is highly praised.
Any items you would suggest changing out?
Shocks, bearing, leaf springs, etc??

Welcome to the forum! In response to your question of what to change----I would say these trucks at these low prices give you a lot of options. If you just want a "Bruiser", take it out drive it as is and enjoy it. Dadio and myself are doing mods to enhance performance and appearance that we might not dare do on a real vintage bruiser. This truck offers us the opportunity to take the "bruiser" platform into the modern world of scalers and maybe even crawlers. Perhaps find a place where the original bruiser and the modern rc4wd tf2 meet. The mods we have listed here in this thread so far will give you an idea of the kind of stuff we're doing to correct what we see as weak points. The tires would be one of the first things to change for most, but if you are running a stock servo with a servo saver, a higher grip tire is probably not going to give you the performance you want when it comes to steering. It really just depends how much you want to modify it and what you want in the end. I have been too busy to do much to mine for the past couple weeks except watch Dadio's progress with envy :mrgreen: .

The tires ,steering and shocks all need attention really if you want to enjoy driving it .
A high torque servo with metal gears and lose the servo saver does wonders for the steering .
The shocks leek really badly and over damp but can be fixed with a little effort or could be replaced.
The tires are just too hard to be very good , the stock tires are not too well glued on so can be removed easily .
Other than those things I just removed a leaf from each spring and the coil springs from the shocks and it rides very well .

I just found out the stickers included are transfer stickers ! , I only wanted two little ones that go on the front wings and have 4WD on them , what a nice surprise , they come precut and you apply them then peel off the backing for a very tidy finish .

Thx for all the replies.
All input taken in and I decided to spend a little on a set of shocks that an ebay seller sells which are original re re bruiser shocks. 50 bucks for the complete set. He still has one set left.
Leaf springs are cheap for the bruiser so i'll try a set of originals.
This is going to be a fun project..........finally something worth working on in my opinion.

Speed control?
Servos?

Since mine was a kit, I started from scratch with electrics. I used an Axial esc (for no other reason than I had one laying around) and so far, I've got no complaints. For the steering servo, I used a high torque metal gear servo from Hitec with no servo saver. For the shifting servo, I used a basic standard cheap servo. I didn't like the idea of a strong servo forcing my transmission into gear. Everything seems to work great so far although I haven't run it hard yet. I power it with a 2s 5000 mah lipo.

Are you thinking of the RTR or Kit version ?
The RTR speed control works OK , there's no adjustment and a longish delay between going forward before you can reverse but the fine control is not too bad .
The stock steering servo is weak and the servo saver is dreadful , it needs a high torque servo ideally metal geared and run it without a servo saver is what I've done.
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

I bought the kit.
I want to put good stuff into this one, but don't want to get too crazy.
