My latest buggy purchase
My latest buggy purchase
I've been going pretty heavy on the Losi's for a while but last week I was at home waiting to go to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth pulled - not much fun any time. I needed a distraction do I jumped up on evil bay to see what was going on. I ended up buying this CE that I had been watching. It's an extremely nice car and came with a box, a radio and receiver as well as a stock motor plus a horribly painted but otherwise new Viper body. I admit is was the super clean chassis that made me hit the buy it now button. A little spendy but it's the nicest gold tub chassis I have, bar none. I don't know if the CE ever came in black or with a stealth tranny but most everything looks very lightly used or new on this car. I may take all the white parts off my other CE tub which isn't as nice to put this back to stock. Tell me what you think and what you see that needs to be corrected for box stock.

Re: My latest buggy purchase
looks good but i have to ask. wth is the extra screw for in the middle of the stealth bolt pattern?
Re: My latest buggy purchase
Good question. I took it out and it's extremely short - less than 1/4". I have no idea what would possess someone to do that to a perfectly nice gold pan.

Thanks Rick. Sorry about the fuzzy pics. My dog was jostling me the whole time I was trying to take them.

Re: My latest buggy purchase
Yes those kits did come in black with the stealth trans. I have a nib #6011 ce the only white in the kit are the rims. The kits dont say white or black on them so you really dont know the color until you open them.
Re: My latest buggy purchase
I should make a slight correction - this is a 6 gear car. No screws have ever been in the stealth holes. Anyone have a black stealth trans they'd part with?

Re: My latest buggy purchase
why do you want to put a stealth in it? are you planning on running it?
Re: My latest buggy purchase
No, I don't think so. I guess just because I don't have any cars with a stealth. I guess I would probably end up building another car to race rather than this one anyway though, you're right.scr8p wrote:why do you want to put a stealth in it? are you planning on running it?

Re: My latest buggy purchase
Those parts have been dyed. Only the last versions of the Stealth equipped CE's came with black parts and they never came with black shock towers. The cars that came from AE with black parts will also likely be a "C" chassis with the 6-gear holes not countersunk.
Re: My latest buggy purchase
Cool, that's good information. I was thinking about putting this back to box stock. I'm not a real purist though so I may just fix a few "problem" areas" such as the ball ends which appear to have been painted or dyed along with the turnbuckles. I can't tell on the shock towers but I agree they're not original color. Were there ever black wheels on the CE or are those dyed as well?RC10resto wrote:Those parts have been dyed. Re: My latest buggy purchase
you could get them (white, black, and yellow), but only white was included in the kits.RedScampi wrote:Were there ever black wheels on the CE or are those dyed as well?
