Edinger

Post by MelvinsArmy »

So, I was re-arranging my boxes and feeling very observant today when I noticed that all 3 of the RC10 boxes that I own have Edinger address's on them. And, that all 2 of the AE stock motors I have also have Edinger address's on them. So, I stopped my re-arranging for a moment to line them up for an Edinger group shot.

Edinger! :D

Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is the significance of the edinger car exactly. Was it only delivered to just certain retailers or a specific warehouse?

To me it's not what is printed on the box.... I could care less. What I like is the parts used on the early cars (ie. Edinger). Pale chassis, spring cups, different tooling on the rear bulkhead, differences in the front/rear shock towers, etc. To me if I received a RC10 w/o those early parts, but still in an "Edinger" box, I wouldn't even care in the slightess.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Well, wouldn't using the term "Edinger" only on certain cars be pointless then? I mean, if I have a car that came in a box with an Edinger address, it is an Edinger car, even if it doesn't have those early parts. I've never had what people are calling "Edinger" RC10, and I've owned a lot of RC10's. Each of those boxes and both of those motors came with the cars that came out of those very boxes. None were "Edinger" cars as people would label them. So, the term as it is being used by collectors is useless.

Makes much more sense to call those cars "Early Production".

But hey, who cares really? Call them whatever you want. I'm gonna call my darker-gold tub, later spring cup, no fiberglass battery hold down car an Edinger. Cause that's where it's from, and that's what it says on the motor. 8)

Edinger!
