Most high tech vintage early 90's speed control
well since i started this topic, i am going to say the Tekin 410K of which i still have 2 working to this day. Awesome speedo they were!

410K for early 90's
Late 90's would have to be the GM speed control that had steering assist (a small gyro), it was outlawed as soon as it was released.

I can't remember the name of it, you plugged your steering servo into the ESC and it would countersteer and limit the throttle. It had various levels of "assist", I bought one when they came out. It felt like my car was glitching all the time, I sold it with a car on ebay a few years ago.

nope, just an interesting ESC I thought was cool... I'll keep my opinions to myself now.

I'd say the 410k as well, I still have both of mine, they were a big pain on carpet oval though, static would biuld up and shut down the early ones. I'd like an ESC with a gyro!, can't see why it would be outlawed thoughmarkt311 wrote:nope, just an interesting ESC I thought was cool... I'll keep my opinions to myself now.

I agree those are cool esc's. I still got one NIB. I love that little tune it plays when you fire it up.

We used to sing "I'm about to fry" on the start line in sync with that tune. One of my good mates lost a National title when it blew up just after the start of the third final - he needed to win and it just went up in a ball of smoke - looking back it looked awesome - but it sure sucked at the time. We never used the 410K in competition again. (for those that dont know - the tune was actually played through the motor! Small, alternating levels of current were passed to the motor by the speedy when switched on!)shodog wrote:I agree those are cool esc's. I still got one NIB. I will say though that they (410K) were above and beyond anything at the time. The Purge force was an awesome speedy as well - I think the original designer (from Australia) went to the states to work for Tekin? My memory is a bit fuzzy on that one. The 410K came out not long after he left for the US anyway.
For me one of the benchmark early electronic speedies was the KO CXI - awesome bit of gear for the time.
Cheers

Hey...no worries....markt311 wrote:nope, just an interesting ESC I thought was cool... I'll keep my opinions to myself now.

Say guys, does anyone know the timeline for Victor escs? I remember a few guys ran 'em at our track in the mid-late 80's. I always wanted one, at least back then.

If it isn't broke, I haven't driven it yet.
